Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

Similar to the Chamber Of Secrets, Salazar Slytherin's heir was Tom Riddle Jnr . . . aka Voldemort.

Voldemort is the Half-Blooded Prince because he is a half blood; his mother a witch and father a muggle. In addition to what I just mentioned, maybe Voldemort is in some royal blood or a key to something, seeing that he is evil and no one would suspect that.

But I'm just using common sense and instinct.

I agree with you simelduff on Harry's dad info, sorry if misspelled, had trouble logging in..lol. So we absolutely know that we don't know anything about James Potter. We do know that Sirius Black visited him a lot at home. We know that James and Lily left Harry a ton of gold, something the Weasley's cannot do with magic. We know that Harry had to be kept close to relatives on Lily's side to keep the protection charm working; but we also know that when Harry was far away at Hogwarts year 1 the charm still worked against Quirrell. That last bit is interesting, why not just let Harry stay at Hogwarts and just visit the Dursleys with a guardian to renew the charm every so often. Also note, that Tom Riddle wanted permission to stay in the summer holidays too, and I'm sure since he was an orphan the magic world could have moved him to a magic orphanage. Also, notice that whenever people tell Harry new stuff about the past it is all spread out, we know why Dumbledore did it, but what about everyone else Harry meets like Remus Lupin? Plus the most revealing thing about any books to come is that we know NOTHING about the Potters at all. So surely it will be revealed, I wonder if James Potter and Snape had a rivalry like that of Ron and Draco, where their parents hated each other, maybe?
Sorry for any posts I'm now doing, but I have tried many things to try and get a space between sentences on this post board, without luck so far, just have a few more tricks to try :) 1 2 3
ACK! even shift and enter didn't work! putting in lots of spaces doesn't work, plain enter = no, using html for breaks = no, and arrows won't work, so I will now try tab, my bet is that will not work either. So if any out there know how to get this to work please tell me, it is driving me nuts. Nope, it didn't, and now using slashes. 1/2/3/4/5/

Even though he hasn't played a big part in the books it is my own opinion that Seamus Finnigan may be the half blood prince as J.K Rowling makes it clear wrote that his mam was a witch but that his dad was a muggle, she got this to stay in our minds by adding, "bit of a nasty shock for him!" this amused us and me remembed it for this reason.

J.K Rowling said that this new book has a lot to do with the second book...and who was the new character in the 2nd book?...that would be Colin Creevey. I believe that he is the HBP.

it cud be anyone but there you go!

not...

tom riddle nor voldemort

harry

hagrid

could be (half bloods)...

remus, peter p, moaning myrtle, seamus, dean, godric gryffindor

neville (his dad was a pure blood, but his mom we do not know, i believe she was muggleborn or halfblood)

it will be someone we knew by the end of the second book. that gets rid of remus. not peter because he is known as scabbers. persoally i think its godric. it was someone who harry thought about in the chamber while fighting with riddle. or perhaps dumbledore. it is never stated that he is a pureblood.

The Mark Evans theory have been clearly denied by JK herself ... she mentioned in her FAQ over her website (very l33tly done too) that Mark Evans was only a character "that needed a name" and Evans is a prety common name dont u thk???
Dragon Rose has a point (dont know if it's related to the HBP) : why Riddle couldn't be transfered in an magical world orphanage???
Half-blood shouldn't mean half muggle and half mage IMHO ... as people refer to muggleborn people simply as muggle (even to hermione) but halfblood should a breed like Centaurus, Vampires, Werewolfs, half human things .... maybe we will see soething that could be called a Prince for some kind of tribe of half-humans creatures. Maybe we will meet Dracula (the so called Prince of Darkness) ... LOL dont think so. Im a good partisan of the new character theory.
as  for the Felix Felicius ROb_Bob mention for me it sounds more like a magic formula after it's not the first chapter named after one (remember the end of Goblet???). Maybe it's something to make cat happy???

I personally think that J.K. Rowling is talking about Voldemort! But the sugestion that Neville could be the Half Blood Prince is cool too. I mean Neville's character did develope a lot more in the fifth book.

first of all the names of the books released till now are:

harry potter and philosopher stone

"" "" chamber of secrets

"" ""pirsoner of azkaban

" "" goblet of fire

"" "order of phoneix

as u can see that non of the 2nd name of the are refferin to harry, and all of them are first introduced in in that particula book {exepet the prizoner of azkaban u might think but not }.

so he must be someone new.and i strongly belive that its griffindore.as jkr has reveled a paragraph and it maches max. with griffindore and also in 6th part a graveyard plays an impotant role,it could be griffindore.

he not any of dark wizards ,nor anyone old.

and it could be possible that wormtail brings the prince so as to pay of his debt to harry.and surly the prince is good guy

I think it is Victor Krum!
i think it will be harry potter himself as he is halfblood
hi ppl, i think that the HBP will be a charactor we all know. Apparently, the HBP might be a charactor that was in the COS so it could be Hagrid?!? But reading the first page of the comments, i see that no one has mentioned Cedric Diggory? He died at the hands of Voldemort didn't he so they could be somehow connected? I think that Dumbledor might die in the 6th book? is this true? please send a reply back!!!! see you all later
Whos is Felix Felicis? Could he possibly be the HBP? The book is going to be shorter then the OotP, and Felix Felicis is mentioned in chapter 16, if a book of hers is usually 30-38 chapters and each chapter is about 20-28 pages long then chapter sixteen is going to be some ways into the book(if you know where im going at this then good, if not get out a calculator) , so if it is goign to be so late in the book could he possibly such an important character to even have a chapter named after him? He could be mentioned a lot of times in the beginning....some where... but i dont think that he is the new DADA teacher because JKR has usually told us who it is in the first-8th chapter, and i dont think it is the person the picture described because who could possibly be more leonine-like the Godric Gryffindor himself? If he was the HBP and extremely important , and get the book titiled after him then why would he be mentioned in ,practically, in the middle? I think Mr. Felicis will have some other duty to fulfill in the HP world but for right now he doesnt seem very important, besides being shrouded in mystery.

Well, I think the Half Blood Price is a new character. But if he is new, who could he be? I think it will be the new Dark Arts Teacher. In every book, the Dark Arts teacher is always being replace. So could it be that the Half Blood Prince will be the new Dark Arts teacher??? Well we will just have to waiting and see.
I think it is Remus or Seamus. I'm leaning towards Seamus though.
I don't know if this could be of any help however, when someone mentioned that it could be a spell, I checked on Latin translations for the surname FELICIUS and this is what I found:

felicitas -atis f. [happiness , good fortune, success]; personif., [Good Fortune as a goddess].

felix -icis [fruitful , fertile]. Transf., [of good omen, favorable, bringing good luck; fortunate, lucky, successful]; Felix, [the Lucky One, surname of Sulla]. Adv. feliciter, [fruitfully; auspiciously, favorably; luckily, successfully].

This was generated by the translator. Notice that FELIX comes up as a root name. Please let me know what all of you think.

JK Rowling's already gone through the list of people who are not the HBP. Harry, Voldemort, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Mark Evans, and Hagrid... That leaves the new characters, and Neville and Grawp. She also said that it's her fault for making small things into big things, but Mark Evans is not at all important to how the story will end.
