What is his significance? J.K Rolwing has extended the H.P series and introduced us to a new character but how does this effect Harry? (and his ever present connection to the Dark Lord, Voldemort?) In my opinion, the half-blood prince might indeed prove a significant link to Harry's mysterious past and how he has turned out to be what he has become.
Consider all the unanswered questions you can think of after finishing the 'Order of the Pheonix' and ask yourself how a half-blood prince could possibly provide those answers...such as why didnt Voldemort die upon impact of his own powers... and lets not forget in the very first book, the Sorting Hat was ever so tempted in putting Harry into the Slytherin house... this may have been an early clue to Harrys magical background and the history of Voldemorts attacks.
Perhaps, unknowingly to the boy himself, Harry does belong in Slytherin but pleaded with the Sorting Hat to let him be in Gryffindor as he feels that not only do all of his friends belong there, but he is discouraged to be placed there when he sees that Draco Malfoy is one of its prominent members... headed by Snape.
Maybe Harry belongs in Slytherin?? Lets remember:
*Harry speaks Parseltongue
*Snape has it in for Harry - there has to be more then meets the eye
* Voldemort was defeated by Harry.... twice..
* The Sorting Hat says to Harry; "You could be great yknow, its all here in your head, and Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness"
