Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

I have somehow missed the mark evans reference and am about to go look it up. From what i've heard however, this seems like the most logical theory. Also, just some random things that i think about the series. Obviously, Harry is the heir of gryffindor, so it'll come down to a slytherin/gryffindor battle. I think harry and ginny will have a thing before the end (the red haired ginny and harry's rehaired mother are to close a reference for me to ignore). Hermione and ron will have a thing whether or not it's actually a relationship or it's just this continued tension. Peter will savve harry from voldemort at some point and probably die for it. Towards the end of the seventh book Dumbledore will get killed and leave harry to face the last battle alone. And finally, i think that harry will die in killing volemort... sad but kinda logical... imean, how could you ever top killing voldemort. His life would be kinda hollow. anyway, that's just me.

I think it maybe Rubeus Hagrid because his mother was a queen-giant and his father was a muggle.

That means that he is half-giant and half human. So he is a prince.

My friend and I (totally HP hardcore fans) We think it's possibly a new character...well she thinks that, I don't think Jo would put a new character six books in. If life were perfect I'd think that sirius comes back from "behind the veil" and becomes the prince...but he's not half-blooded....

Well, I have been read every post made yet, and I am quite boggled about who it is. I am re-reading the second book over, and doing character sketches of every half blood.

I am really unsure about Neville. He is a suspicious character. I mean, he turned really brave in the fifth book. I think that he might end up being the heir of Griffendor.

I read somewhere that Dumbledore will die in the seventh book, and Harry Potter will have to conquer Lord Voldemort alone.

Anyway, I gotta go. Lots of Character Sketches to do

Paladin, if it is a spell, and it has a whole chapter to itself, why is it so important to make someone happy (if it is that latin stuff ). Perhaps Harry has to be made happy after Sirius death. But is it so important that it needs a whole chapter? If it is a person, and I doubt it is the HBP because that would be too obvious, why is he so important? Perhaps he helps Harry a lot to do something ( finding the HBP? ).

I hope she finishes this book really soon. All this guessing drives me crazy!

I think the half-bood prince is something between Harry and Voldermort (cuz Voldemort is a half-blood), the second war is already started, so i think that's a possibility.

I think its not any of those that you guessed. I think its some new character. A new person. A new character DOES appear in almost every book right? Although i have a feeling that this particular person will not be from Gryffindor. I think its from slytherin. A feeling tells me so. It could be someone Umbridge really hates, since she has something against the half bloods. Who knows?!

I am in agreement with you g-potterfan; I do not feel that this person is the HBP.  After a few days to turn over the various possiblities, I believe that Felix Felicius is a person but not the HBP.  Felix is 'the lucky one' and since Felix is a root of Felicius, I think that it is a character who has a gift of luck or all of the graces of someone who is lucky beyond normal means.  If this is the case, then perhaps they have a major impact on  Harry in come way and will be a major character for the remaining two installments and ultimately Harry's final confrontation with Voldemort.  I won't be surprised if Dumbledore has known about him either.  I appreciate the feedback. I agree with you paladin. Maybe he brings Harry luck so he wins against Voldemort ( Idon�t know if you ment that ). And I wouldn�t be surprised either if Dumbledore knew him anyway.

This thought just popped in my head: Perhaps he is another "mistake" of Dumbledore. That means perhaps Dumbledore should have told Harry about him for some reason. And now in Chapter 16 he tells him. What do you think? Because I somehow agree that he will be important as he is in the middle of the book.

I think it sounds great, g-potterfan. I don't know about a mistake but perhaps a trump card (person) that Dumbledore is holding, to provide Harry when he is ready. That would be sweat! Dumbledore has had several years to think the implications of the prophecy through.  All of the books indicate he took precautions in regard to Harry; perhaps you're right and JKR intends to have him tell Harry about this lucky person.

 I dont really know who the half blodd prince is, but I know something else about book six, Dudley is a wizard. Remember in the beginning of book five when Petunia got a howler from Dumbledore? The howler said "remember Petunia" or something like that. When Dudley was a child, he started to behave oddly, just like harry did. Strange things happened when Dudley were angry. Petunia knew that he was a wizard, but she was terrified that he would start hogwarts and become like harry, so she contacted dumbledore, and dumbledore threw a spell on Dudley so that he cant use his magic. But if Petunia throws harry out from their house Dudley will find out that hes a WIZARD!!

it could be Darren Shan (the half blooded prince) from the Cirque du Freak series.  i think it would be awesome if it was cause that is one of my favorive book series.

Paladin, mistake meant it is like it was with the prophecy. Dumbledore told Harry he wanted to tell him about it after all the stuff ( in Philosopher�s  Stone, Chamber of secrets and all that ) but didn�t because he didn�t want to give Harry a shock because he likes him too much ( he himself said that this is the mistake ). I thought that Felix is someone that Harry should perhaps have known before, like the prophecy. But your idea with the trump card is a very good one, too. Dumbledore did take a lot of precautions. He knew that one time Voldemort is going to rise again so he put him to his aunt because of the security he gets there to make sure that Voldemort isn�t hurting Harry as long as he is not in Hogwarts. Dumbledore is able to look after him the best while he is at Hogwarts, so when he isn�t there has to be something else to give him security.

I have another question. Now, that "jk�s door" is closed again are there any new things that can be found like the one you had to typ in the mobile? The last time I think there were new clues on her site, but I�m not sure.

i think the half blooded prince might be voldemort because his father was a muggle and his mother a pure blood!

I think HBP is Lord Voldemort. His mother is witch but not his father.

look at it this way:

the order of the phoenix wasn't mentioned in any of the other books.

the goblet of fire wasn't mentioned in the 3 books before it, and so on. i thought it was voldemort but it seems jk has said it isnt. therefore i regret to say it might well be a new character. i was so sure it was voldemort......

um...................they only person i kno who is  half blood could be hermione but she is a witch not a prince or uh................voldemort he is a mudblood. i am not sure who else is a  half blood maybe hagrid, professor lupin. um..............not really knowing who else  is a mudblood or half blood
