that I can do. I have twisted and strained ligaments in my wrist and I wondered if there was anything I could or should be doing? Dr has given me a pain relief cream and told me to keep it supported.

Also any idea how long it might take to heal?

It could take up to 6 weeks. There is a little bone in your wrist called an anvil (that is what I was told at the time) and I broke it - it took six weeks before I could move my wrist, and nearly eight months to heal properly. I would do as the Dr said and keep it supported; in the meantime, you could always come on here for plenty of verbal hugs.

I admitted to the Dr this morning that I thought it would sort itself out and he said that's not like you and he said why did you mention it I said coz its 3 weeks on and its bloody sore and its beginning to affect me when I'm at work.

I will keep it supported and drop on in when it gets a bit iffy Spoonboy.

I also hope that you are recovered now though
I dunno know about excercises or how long it will take to heal, but I just wonder is the anvil in middle ear, I always thought it was, apart from that, take spoonboy's advice
I wouldnt attempt to exercise it if you are being told to keep it supported!
I am, and minus the odd letters finding their way through my posts, typing fit ever since. Keep your chin up.
Perhaps there is one in the wrist Ducksie: I am only going by what the doc at the hospital said the bone was.

I guess so Boxy I just don't want it to go getting all stiff that's all.

I'm glad Spoonboy :) I will keep my chin up more important things to worry about - I just wish I could remember to stop leaning on it or trying to support myself!

Pass Ducksie - been a long time since I did Biology (not that I'm old or anything)
I didn't want to contradict you spoonboy, if dr told you it was an anvil, i won't disagree :)
Trying not to lean on it is quite difficult I agree; it's a bit like stubbing your toe once, but knocking it against something again after. It is difficult to un-program oneself from doing the things we do without thinking about them.

It is very true. I broke my baby toe and I am so wary of the bookcase outside my room that it gets a massive berth whenever I walk past even if I have something on my feet!
The best one for me is that I always try to walk through doors: it hurts, but I still forget and try!!

I'm logging out now, be well soon.

Aww bless you Spoonboy :)

Me too got work tomorrow so need to go put my cream on and hit the sack

Will let you know how things pan out :)

Night x
got my best friend to look at my back and sure enough after 4 week coming this Sat she said there were black and blue marks at the bottom of my spine and to the left of my hip - gawd no wonder I have been in so much pain. I figure I have hurt my cocyxxx - and left hip - Dr Sqad did tell Op this takes a very long time to heal so there ya go. Just bless it with holy water every night. - what a pain (excuse the pun) in the bun. XXX LOL
The " anvil" is in the middle ear.

The bone in the wrist is probably the scaphoid.

Do as the Dr. suggested.
I'd keep it still and supported until they tell you otherwise. Have they given you any kind of splint?

When I did mine in in my knee I ended up plastered ankle to hip! Ligaments can be tricky so listen to you Dr.
Question Author
I hope that you are resting Conne though.

I will rest it as best I can.

Sadly not Eve just got Difflam Cream and told to keep a support bandage on it if it feels worse I'll go back :)
How did you manage to damage your wrist, queenie ?.
Question Author
I really wish I knew Tony - I have no idea
I bet you lay on it while asleep, queenie.
Question Author
I don't tony lol I either sleep on the right side or on my stomach arms and legs akimbo - see nungate for details
