Quick question but if you were diagnosed as diabetic approximately a year ago, how frequently would you have to go to the diabetic clinic? Is it fortnightly/monthly etc?
Many thanks for your help

Hi charlo, I was diagnosed with type 2 this time last year, I have seen my diabetic nurse twice but have my Hba1C test done every three months, I ring for the results and if there's a problem they tell me to make an appointment. I must admit though, I have felt of late that if I didn't make the three monthly appointments for the blood test off my own back, I wonder if anyone at the clinic would chase it up! I was advised when first diagnosed that I would need to see the diabetic nurse every six months unless there was a problem. Hope this helps.
it all depends on which type and how old you are.
if you have type 1 and were only diagnosed a year ago your check ups should be fairly regular untill they have regulated it and worked out the correct dose of insuline, if you are type 1, are you on 4 or 3 injections a day?
it also depends on your age if you are under 16 they tend to want to keep a closer eye on you they also find it harder to regulate it as you are still growing.
check out the NHS web site there is some really interesting info on diabetes.
