You are correct.......rest and drink plenty........don´t whisper, but speak normally without shouting.

Mum is wrong.

I thought she might be as it's not related to an infection or anything; just came about because of overuse! Thanks for the advice; am trying to avoid speaking altogether and hoping it will be back soon, is very frustrating!
I get this all the time, Sophie.. It's horrid, but it WILL come back. Drinking hot water with lemon and honey at least makes it feel better, and steaming does actually help (face with towel over head, over bowl of steamy water). But basically, rest and lots of water is the only thing that will fix it.
thank goodness, we are spared the suffering of listening to our sophie.

Thanks Scarlett, found some tips website that suggested ginger tea with honey so have been drinking that; can't see as it's made much difference but tastes quite nice anyway!
Hey DT!! Everyone is actually getting very frustrated with me writing little notes and trying to mime things, they would much prefer that I be able to talk!

Try and gargle with an anitseptic, like tea tree. Tastes disgusting, but is a wonder for killing off Strepto.
Remembering back to my Am-Dram days - I'm sure someone used to eat oranges as they said it helped their throat.

Thanks both; I think it's actually my vocal chords that are the problem so not sure that traditional remedies for sore throats will help the voice situation, may be worth a try though!
