I got a call just after 10am to say that Nan had deteriorated and probably wouldn't last the day. I got here as quickly as I could and we have all taken it in turns to sit by her bedside. She's been on a morphine and Midazolam drive since yesterday and the nurse gave her a further shot of Midazolam this evening as she was restless and agitated.
We will continue to keep a vigil throughout the night, but I really hope she slips away soon.

My Nan passed away just before midnight last night. I held her hand and did my best to offer comforting words as she took her final breaths. I think she seized the opportunity to slip away while my mum was out of the room.
She passed away very peacefully and there were no final words and there was no struggle.

NoM. . my thoughts are with you and your family. it is good that you were by her side, and that she would have known how much love was in the room.
it is all over now - bar the funeral arrangements. you and your family can look back upon the good life she had with you all.
once again, my deepest respects - and thank you for keeping us all appraised.
chin up.

Sorry to hear the news NoM and distressing it must be. However, think of the great times that you had and the pain eases as those warm memories come flooding in.
When I was young, romantic and foolishly brave.
You stood on the sidelines with an encouraging wave.
When I was older, daring and loud.
You still found something in me, of which to be proud.
With a family to be of my own came less time.
You made us, as much yours, as mine.
Christmas and Birthdays, a card you always sent.
Time and company, with you, however much, not enough spent.
Nan, now that you are gone, and that must be.
Please remember, I love you, as much as you loved me.
