Ovary removal/HRT
22 Answers
I had to have one ovary removed a few weeks ago due to an abscess rupture. I'm now fit and well, but a few people have mentioned that I might need HRT; I've been feeling ok in that respect, I don't feel menopausal or anything, but my family say they have noticed that I'm a bit of a 'short fuse' now?? I've been told it may bring the menopause on very quickly/early. I'm almost 42 and not really felt any menopausal symptoms, apart from the odd night sweat. Would it be worth seeing my doc?

I had a full hysterectomy and both ovaries removed twenty years ago (I was a bit older than you), and went straight onto HRT patches - never had a symptom, never had any problems at all. My GP weaned me off them after about 10 years, and I've had no side-effects at all.
