Burnt myself and chemist said to use Acriflex, the blister has popped and it is very sore and stinging. How can I keep it clean, and stop the stinging apart from the Acriflex?
Its fine for the chemist to say don't cover it but living in the real world, i would put a dressing on it. If you are using acriflex on it, it won't "dry out" anyway.
I read somewhere to put egg white on a burn and have always done that. It takes the sting out and helps heal it quicker. But not sure on such a big burn as yours.?
Hopefully it should have stopped hurting by now, but if you happen to do it again, hold the burn under running water for at least ten minutes. If it still hurts, keep submerged in cool water until the pain stops.
You need a pouch of saline solution and special burns plaster (no lint on them). Wash with solution and cover with plaster for sleeping and shower. Keep uncovered during the day, do not even have a sleeve over it.
Go to your chemist tomorrow and ask for their advice about a dressing to keep it clean. In the meantime - vaseline and some lint? I don't understand why you have to keep it dry, moist wound healing seems to be the thing these days.
I went to another chemist today who said keep it dry, don't wash with anything (I was using mild salt water) just use Acriflex. So if you are squeamish don't look at this :
I`ve always thought it`s a good idea to not put anything at all on a burn although we have coolgel and Watergel(for bigger burns) at work. I think they`re only to cool the initial burning feeling though. I`d just stick a melolin or other non stick dressing on it and tape it down with some micropore. Then it can breathe and dry out.
