I've just been prescribed Nitrofurantoin for a water infection from the walk in centre, and have just noticed that it says to be careful if you are Vit B deficient. I'm b12 deficient (under control), will this matter? I've had one already.

btw will update you on bp med shortly, waiting to get results!

Sorry, wrong thread
I'd just like to say that I am not a doubting Thomas and my concerns were not over the validity of information given by Squad. I was making a point that it was wise not to take some info gained from a Forum as written in stone. Some questions benefit from peoples opinions and are useful in looking at different aspects of a problem that may have different outcomes and everyone is qualified to give their opinions. Other Questions benefit from experienced peoples answers : the 'How to' questions and Law. FWIW I have found responses to my questions extremely useful in pointing out different aspects of a situation. What I do find irritating, and this affects not just me and is across the board is that anyone who is a 'newbie' is almost inevitably treated with some caution and the fact they are a new contributor often raised as if this is a negative and they are not worthy of an opinion.
Well up to now, no one has returned to AB and said sqad has killed them.
Lol Mick...
Law is more likely to suffer from bad/misleading advice than health IMO.
We do get a lot of 'new' folk hellbent on upsetting/winding up JD and you become suspicious of a certain tenor of first post.
No-one minds anyone being new JaneDoe2 ( although newbies are frequently banned users returning to stir the sh1t) but your comments did come off as somewhat patronising, given that creamegg had actually ADDRESSED the question to Squad personally, knowing as she does who he is and the type of advice given. I myself have done similar because I have been here for 8 years and have satisfied myself as to Squad being the genuine article. that's what adults do- they satisfy THEMSELVES and generally don't need the obvious pointing out to them by someone who hasn't been here long enough to make a determination with any accuracy.
I'm not attacking your newbieness, but it would grate on me if you had pointed it out to me, as though I were too stupid to make my own decision on whether to take Squad's advice or not.
As Mick and Shoota said and as I said before Jane...we are not stupid.
I've seen Sqad impart advice and give his gut feeling based on his extensive medical knowledge and the information he's been given, but I've never seen him make a firm diagnosis. He tends to answer the questions he's asked and I am very grateful for the advice he's given me.
sqad is by no means perfect. I once asked about a swollen ankle in a uncle, which he dismissed as nothing even as I was asking if it could be a thrombosis! It WAS a thrombosis, which goes to show that you can't get advice from here!

sqad said very unlikely, gut said, get him to a doctor. That's the thing..........sqad is very helpful and brilliant, but this is a forum and cannot be used as a wing of the NHS!
1) does anyone here actually read responses are are you all to eager to get your penneth worth in? I am NOT criticising Squad....(give in)

2) -how clever NOX to surmise that newbies are frequently banned users -try doing a Google search for anything and AB is always on the first page -that's how I came to find it.

3) Anyone can be anyone they want on the Internet . Unless you know someone personally and have met them it really does not matter how long you have 'known' them in Cyberland..hello...maybe its an age thing. Older people tend to 'believe' more than younger people who have more experience of the unreal world of cyberland. I could be a Solicitor on one Forum, a general practitioner on another and even perhaps a stay at home mum with 3 children on another - I could have been these for years and years, something to take my mind off my boring data input job
//does anyone here actually read responses are are you all to eager to get your penneth worth in//

Including yourself, Jane......Some folk have commented that your point was more generic than just Sqad.

However, you seemed to have missed that I wrote that several ABers have met in the wonderful world of reality - Sqad included; naturally, that allows for some "vetting and appraisal" of folk and feedback makes it way back to other users.

Not that Sqad was there, there were a number of gatherings recently in Birmingham for the Beer Festival and then the German Christmas gathering.....
Oh bums.....re point three. I'm an older person. Does that mean Redman isn't a 6ft 2" Johnny Depp look alike?

Seriously, we are not bothered if you are being critical of Sqad or not. It's the granny sucking eggs bit that annoys me.
I've always thought sqad very useful on this site. I had to smile when he mentioned the areas where he doesn't have expertise. It reminded me of my RAF service and stationed in deepest Warwickshire, our senior medical Doctor was an expert on tropical diseases.
DT. Would this be a good moment for me to come clean? ;-)
Afraid not gness and dave is not 4' 6'' and weighs 5 and a half stones.
Gness : I'm not a granny and I hate eggs (why would you want to suck one...) ;-P

you will have to explain that analogy as its a bit before my time lol!
Jane...in fairness to you I will assume that other forums are different to AB. I don't know...I landed up here by accident and whoopee that I did.
Re the eggs....google it and you will know something others of your generation don't....I blame the schools you know. :-)

Now should that be from......?
//Older people tend to 'believe' more than younger people who have more experience of the unreal world of cyberland.//

Quite right Jane. Those of us aged over, ooo, say twenty five, have been sitting around for years scratching out our txt messages on vellum with quill pens. It's only in recent months my five year old granddaughter, far wiser in the ways of boolean logic than I, plugged the laptop in and explained that t'interweb no longer runs on steam. And lo!
gness: do you hard boil the eggs before you suck them or is it more like oysters you kind of break them and suck their juice out. Or..is this some kind of AB initiation like the Masons, should I pull my trouser leg up and bare my breast(s) , hang on I'll go get an egg.....;-)
what have you got to come clean about gness? You haven't been tidying up the coal cellar again, have you?
