I have a canker sore on the inside of my upper lip and it's making my right tonsil swollen. Does anyone know of anyway to releive swelling or at least the pain? I'd like to stay away from advil/tylenol, and keep in mind that I can't do anything like rinse with warm salt water because of the canker sore. Thanks

I know it stings, but rinsing with salty water might be the best thing to do.  Or try gargling with it, you might miss the sore that way.  There is a spray you can get at the chemists which you use on tonsils, it's not pleasent but might work for you (i tried it wile I had glandular fever and it didn't do a thing).  I can't remember the name but if you ask at the chemist they should eb able to help you.

Thanks so much!
Actually, I tried using novacane... um... it didn't work on my tonsil, but I'm pretty sure I won't be swallowing anything for a while as I can't feel my throat.
jellyyellie are you in the USA? This is a UK site - all welcome, but very different medicines are available in the two countries, so it's probably worth asking a pharmacist what's available locally. Apologies if I've mislocated you.

Try "Adcortyl In Orabase" jelly. It works wonders!

As it is just one tonsil that is swollen I would advise a trip to your GP and have it checked out, just to be on the safe side.
