I was sent to see a consultant regarding a skin complaint and she said that she would like to prescribe a certain medication but I would have to have an Etc scan before she could do this. Could anyone tell me why please and what kind of Medicine it is likely to be.
Thank you.

Sorry, anonymous
OK...then it was an ECG

No idea why........sorry.
Leah, we are all different - I ask questions, lots of them but that does not make me a better patient. I just feel more empowered knowing why and what for .... let us agree that the Scan was to rule out any other possibilities before treating your symptoms.

That is the most important thing.
I found one post i meant in "health and fitness." Can't do links on my phone but try searching "itchy face" posted by trt.
Thank you, mamya x

Mamya , I think that must be it. Formication. As I said I thought the doctor did'nt believe me. You would have thought that he would have explained this to me. I still can't see how what I feel can be imagined though, I definitely feel something crawling on my skin, how can you imaging that. Ah well , maybe just one of the joy's of getting old.
Five years ago I was very poorly and had a number of weird and wonderful symptoms, one of which was all the skin started peeling off my hands and feet. I was sent for emergency heart tests for that (might have been and ECG, can't remember now).
Leah in truth I think it is not all that uncommon and hopefully there is relief for you out there, my tip - ask questions. Be well.
Whatever the reason I'm sure there is a good one for it.

I've been a bit perplexed before now at some tests but it's down to my lack of medical knowledge. I remember being a bit thrown when I was wheeled off for a chest xray after they had been saying they thought I had meningitis but I read something after that something can show up in the lungs with it, I'd never had known that. I also got sent for one when I had suspected chickenpox, again I have no idea why but just did what I was asked as I figured there was a good reason for it.

Could it be a medication which could cause some kind of heart related symptom? I had to have (another haha!) chest xray before I started on drugs for my arthritis, from what I've read so they know things are ok before they start it and I figure they then have a baseline picture in case anything does go wrong.

I hope they sort it for you.

An update on my ECG scan.
Thank you to all those of you who took an interest in my skin condition.
Went back to see consultant for results of the test only to be told that she has not received them from my GP. I had the scan nearly six weeks ago so I don't know what the delay is.
Had a full discussion with the consultant and she explained to me what many of you had already told me. She told me to return in three weeks when another consultant will be with her. I was prescribed lots of creams and Hydroxyzine tablets to be taken one at night.
My problem is that I can't see how anyone can convince me they something is NOT crawling on my skin when I am convinced that thy are. I have the marks to prove it.
I am at my wits end and feel that I am going mad. I have never had any mental health problems before but I have the feeling that this is what the doctors are thinking.
Once again, thank you all for your interest.
