What is this country coming to when everyone has to think if certain actions may cause offence?

Should all newspapers of any particular political association, be burnt because in their past they may have reported unwisely on an event on which they reported many years ago?

No, mine went straight into the recycling bin without even coming indoors
Wouldn't let that rag darken my doorstep!! Ditto as woofgang.
I placed my copy in an envelope and returned it to FREEPOST, The Sun, London E98 1AX.

I thought that there would have been more comments against this free copy of the Sun, for it's rather patriotic content, headlined 'This is our England'?

No, but I did don a Marigold and transfer it directly from the doormat to the rubbish bin unopened. we have got a little sign on the door requesting 'No freebie Newspapers thank you' but I guess the Sun is not really included in that!
They didn't get delivered where I live (Birkenhead, Merseyside), not that I'd have wanted one anyway. I would have went straight back... wrapped around a "Richard the Third".
Well, I never read the Sun, and haven't had a free copy posted through my door, which may be explained by the fact I live in Wales !

There is no one more critical of everything to do with the Hillsboro disaster than me, and I wish the current investigation and new Inquests every success in finding out the truth.

But the Sun has made many apologies over the years and perhaps its time that Liverpool accepted those apologies. They have the new Inquests that they have been asking for, and maybe its time to stop being offended every time anyone or any organisation appears to less than reverential about the City. Time to go forward surely ?
^It would have went straight back^
Its nothing to do with Hillsboro. Its just not a paper I choose to buy or read so why would being given a free one make any difference? Additionally I also have no interest in football or any other sport for that matter.
"reported unwisely" ... yeah that sums it up perfectly!
thats 'exactly' what they are hated all over the country - intensely in Liverpool - yeah, simply because they "reported unwisely" ...

are you also suggesting that no-one should be offended by what they did?
that all the people who feel white hot fury about it, along with and all the people who are just irked at what a rotten bunch they are, are just being silly and need to chill?

There are many many cases of over- reactions, of 'pc gone mad', of people getting upset over nothing etc etc ... but this is not one of them - and you know it.
The Sun is not my usual drivel that I read... but funny and made me laugh. So I didn't mind and (The freebie) are still looking at the England stats of players.
mikey - are you kidding?
they have denied it and spouted more lies over the years, i dont recall all these apologies you claim they have made over the years - do you have a link to one?

in case you missed all the recent coverage that has taken 25 years of campaigning to achieve the desired result - the truth
Trouble is Baldric, your sign says no free NEWSpapers, the Sun isn't a newspaper, it's a poor imitation of a soft porn comic!
joko...its seems that you are partly correct :::

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillsborough_disaster#The_Sun

[i]The Sun apologised for its treatment of the Hillsborough disaster "without reservation" in a full page opinion piece on 7 July 2004, saying it had "committed the most terrible mistake in its history" by publishing it[i]

The Newspaper has made an apology but the Editor at the time, a certain Kelvin MacKenzie, withdrew is apology, to his shame.

Although he now says he is sorry again ! Understandable confusion here, when each successive statement seems to contradict the previous one !
well they are only doing what the guardian have to do most days round here!
Disappointingly we never got a copy -- so it's the Andrex and the Russian flag from our World Cup bunting for us instead :-)
I used the coupon for a free 1.25 litre bottle of zero coke, then binned the rest of the paper!
thats the problem mikey - the apologies are not real they are made in force and denial - if they had actually truly admitted it all, retracted and apologised properly - made a full page spread etc people maybe wouod have accepted it - forgiven if not forgotten, but its taken 25 years to force an apology out of them - and even now we all know they dont mean it.
instead of holding their hand s up they created even more lies

they are the equivalent of a child with chocolate all round his mouth and holding and empty wrapper, denying hed eaten the chocolate ...
Mine went into the bin. Burning is a good idea though - I wish I'd thought of it.
(and my distaste has nothing to do with Hillsborough - to be perfectly honest, I don't care about that event at all. I just loathe the Sun.)
