are ok, but they are not, sorry. i haven't been around but this is all too much. Weight loss is significant and no one knows why, except
to suggest acute anxiety. body sensations like tingling in feet, legs is on and on, so posting on anything interesting or chat as before hasn't been my focus. so nothing positive im afraid.

Emmie, perhaps you could ask to be referred to another hospital for more tests? There is clearly something wrong that isn't being picked up.
I am sorry, you know a lot of people would recognise your symptoms as extreme anxiety/nervous problems, especially the visual disturbance, oversensitivity and tingling in extremities.
Emmie, go back to your GP, you shouldn't have to feel so awful, it can be a spiral when you feel rotten physically, making you mentally drained and depressed.
Is there any chance you could see the neurologist privately?
Question Author
reason and control went when i started getting the burning pains in the back, feet and buttocks, the back pain that was may not have been, but i am now down 12kg in six months,
Question Author
prudie, could well be, however the fact remains that the burning sensations that go on and on, stabbing pain sensation in buttocks, didn't have an explanation, unless it was from the virus type 2 herpes, a shocker that was, seeing as how my partner is long dead, and that there hasn't been anyone else, but i am told that it lives on, just take meds to stop other outbreaks, the neurologist thought it more likely i had shingles. confused of the capital.
Oh dear, i'm sure the lack of accurate diagnosis or a top notch doctor is making it worse for you. If only you could see a real life House (TV doctor with superlative diagnostic skills if anyone doesn't know).
Hi emmie. Very sorry to hear of your problems. You need to insist that your GP refers you.
my OH had ocular shingles 5 years ago and he was ready to receive the last rites. He still gets pain/ itching/ rash though it has diminished in severityover time. Fortunately his GP eventually recognised it for what was and he was prescribed acyclovir which I am sure helped.
I hope you get sorted soon Emmie, go plague your GP until you get some action that gives you some relief
Emmie, stay strong and accept nothing but the best!
Please insist on a second opinion.
Hi emmie. Was wondering where you'd got too.

Yes, herpes virus goes into a dormant state and reactivates in response to stress and anxiety. Back and midriff is where shingles breakouts occur.

With anxiety there is a literal change in body chemistry: "overbreathing" gets rid of so much carbon dioxide that the (nearly) neutral pH balance of the body is lost. I can't go into detail but all body chemistry processes are sensitive to variations in pH - some become hyperactive and others are inhibited. Hyperventilation makes you feel jittery, the muscles are ready for action, senses are heightened ("fight or flight") and that only feeds back into increasing the anxiety.

I think you are burning calories just standing still due to being locked into this anxiety state. Relaxation classes would help teach you to control your breathing rate and change your mental state.

Pins and needles I associate with lack of blood circulation. That needs to be looked into separately. Could be down to a sedentary job or lifestyle, or your chair has sunk to the point that your knees are higher than your hips.

Re: Alternative therapy. Rather than pooh-pooh it, I will only say that your GP needs to know about it, in case of adverse interactions between prescription drugs and the alternative products. If you don't tell them about it, the doctor may think that your recovery was because the medicine was better than it actually is.
Hi! Emmie.

Nice to see you back.
Emmie you poor love xx ..you MUST get a full review from doctor...can he admit you to hossie for tests ? ..in meantime take build up drinks and soups, I got them on prescription for Fil, but you can get them from most supermarkets ..or wate on from health shops...perhaps online ?

Wish I was near to help you....take care emmie xxx....
sounds like you need quite a bit of help. as others have said would it be a good idea to start with you or practice nurse? you do sound quite wretched and unhappy.
Hi Emmie, so sorry you are suffering so much but keep bothering them until someone gets a handle on it. See different Drs if you can, to see if something gels with one of the others at your practice, but I think you must go back and underline how unbearable your life feels at the moment because psychological or purely physical, you are really suffering at the moment and they need to find some help for your symptom alleviation if nothing else. Hope you begin to feel better soon xxx
