There are the 'special' ones that you have to cut some slack, even if its hard work, and some mickey takers . The 'spoilers' are a small minority that make a hobby of being antagonistic in the faint hope they will send someone over the edge and get then suspended. The latter used to annoy me, now I feel sorry for them and should really show some compassion as AB is the only life they have. But I don't ...and won't lol!
I have many titles on here - 'do gooder' 'fence sitter' 'rose tinted specs wearer' are a few off the top of my head - others are entitled to think that and is water off this duck's back.
One thing is clear Gordie, and many others, have had lots of good advice and compassion shown over the years and this will always be the case.
Equally he seemed quite comfortable with some straight talking last night.
Best wishes Gordie.

If I ever caused someone else to get banned, I would be the one who loses out because then I'd have nothing to react to. This thread has caused me to think of things to say which I hadn't though of, previously. It has been useful.
What Retrocop had to say, did have to be said. Every thread needs a sceptic, to keep it in balance. I reckon a lot of people would be thinking the exact same things as he said and I simply have to accept that. A perfect case of don't shoot the messenger.

I'm not too sure where retro gets the impression of there being a clique at work here. I for one do not spend a lot of time on threads...unless it is something I have a particular interest in,or its something I care about...as in this thread. I'd never try to silence anothers opinion...it's those opinions that make a discussion worthwhile. We are all...for the most part it would seem...speaking from personal experience. Maybe the advice we give is what helped *us* in the past.
I think the conclusion is that Gordie had varying responses to his question/cry for help and chose to take advice, and thank, someone who was being berated as 'uncaring'. Whatever the initial reason was for Geordies OP he seems to have drawn advice from all quarters and the last thing he probably needs in 'in house' fighting. Although he may be sat having a jolly good laugh at everyone, I hope he finds the strength to fight his bete noir.
