Weird Names

This doesn't really fit in this category but I hardly every use the other ones! Has anyone met anyone with a weird name? I've known a Russel Sprout, a Roland Butter and my grandfather ( a minister) married a couple: the groom was David Joyce and the bride was Joyce Brady . . . . . . . .. . .  Oh, and my Mum went to school with a Pearl Button!

Our local vet is Mr Cumber, his son is called Hugh.  Cruel.

Rumour had it there was a Wayne Kerr that went to our school too.

My friends granddad was called John Thomas...

My mum is into genealogy and in our family way way back there was a branch of our family with the surname love-fudge heheh so obviously I've never met them but its hardly a common name is it? =)

I remember someone at one of my 'temp' jobs in a hospital in Surrey - his name was Orville Liquorice - no kidding - and he suited the name as well !!

Iris- how funny! I also know Mr Cumber and I teach all his kids! Small world. I asked Hugh's sister why he was named Hugh and she said, despite it being silly, her parents did actually really like the name Hugh and would have used it anyway!

When I was at school there was a girl in my class called Teresa Green!  honestly!.......  :-)

A friend of mine worked at the DVLA and had to re-issue a license - the customer's name was Mr *** **** - they had to change his license to Mr W. King.

I have heard of a Sandy Bottom, Trevor Henry Ing (THIng), and my brother's friend is called Robert Roberts.

My Granny use to live next to a girl who had the nicest name in the world, she thought.  'Myrtle Gannon! the mum would shout when it was time for tea.  'Mmm. 'Myrtle Gannon'', my Granny would murmur, 'what a lovely name'.  It was years later that she realised that 'Myrtle''s mum was Irish and the accent meant her name was atually Mary Killgannon.

Mmm, where to start........

We had patients where I work(I can use their names as they are deceased) with the names Fanny(if it's automatically edited by AB it rhymes with Danny) Blaze and Nesta DeFesta.

A lad I once worked with had the surname Pipe and he called his nipper Dwayne.  Why would you?

I also served in the Army with an Oswald Merrygold and his brother Peregrine later joined our unit.

I used to work with a Richard Cox (think about it - what is a diminutive of Richard) but the absolute killer is that his initials were R A W.
I also once worked with a Charles Charlesworth ( I don't think his parents had any imagination) my Grandmother had a neighbour called Lily Lilley and a French teacher I had at primary school was called Mr Pink, ooh and I once met a Mr Tickle (he was about 80 and really sweet).

My mum and Dad knew a Danish guy who was called Claude Bottom.  My mother in law is a registrar and has registered Annette Curtain.  She did point out to the parents that this might be a bit odd, but they went ahead anyway. Even worse, is a friend of mine in Ireland, who knows a woman with a child called Yvonne.  Nothing at all unsual in that, except the parents pronounce the name as Wivonney.

I was at school with a guy who jad two friends, named Robin Hood and Richard Burton. They both tried to join a local night club on the same night, and had to come back with i.d. before the club would take them!
