When Friends Aren't Friends

Have you ever had a good friend who decides that your services are no longer required when they get a better offer- a boyfriend/girlfriend, a new best friend etc? This has happened to me several times despite me always being the best and most loyal friend I can be. I usually end up walking away and thinking "their loss", but why are people so awful? Or have you actually done this to someone?

I have a former best friend who used to accuse me of this but she was way worse than me when she found herself in a relationship and even worse when I had my son -she dropped me like a hot brick as I wasn't going to be at her disposal for nights out anymore - that really hurt . i found out the morning after that her and some other girlfriends had a night out together and my boyfriend joined them . You'd think one of them especially my best friend would've sent him home so i could go and join them.
Then she would do things like turn up at my son's 1st birthday party -late and drunk.
anyway i turned a blind eye but nail in the coffin came later when she behaved very unfriendlike leading up to and on my wedding day . friendship over. :(

This is really going to *** some people off now but anyway, I have lived half of my life in the country and half of my life in the city. In my opinion, city people are much more fickle when it comes to friendships. City people can afford to drop friends because there are "always more when they came from". Country people can't do that because the population is so much smaller and if you drop people then there won't be any more people to make friends of.

I've dropped loads of friends. No fall outs, just too much drama.
