Totally agree Diddlydo and Pasta. Being inactive makes it worse. Time for Emmie to get ground floor accommodation and perhaps go to chair exercise sessions.

diddlydo, it may work for some but you should allow for those for whom it does not.

I agree with lb.
I don't post on here much as have little patience with those who will not help themselves. I read a lot of the posts but usually refrain from commenting.
I live alone, permanently on crutches and rolator when out. Lots of stairs. In pain but you have to at least try and help yourself!
Surely it would be possible to go down stairs backwards.
Definitely not a job for ambulance men.
