when i have this i take a nice hot bath with radox then after make sure i put my legs up for abit then go bed with a hotwater bottle try it it may work for you too
go for a walk
SLEEP, this is a sign of being tired.
Tonic water is a good remedy dyli. It contains quinine, try it:-))
Try Antistax capsules and Leg Gel. The capsules contain red vine leaf which opens up the capillaries and helps the blood flow to the legs. The gel is soothing and cooling to the legs.
Not a cure ..but may give some relief.
if you follow fina's advice you should be ok!
Can i just add, it's not a sign of tiredness. Restless legs syndrome manifests itself while you're asleep!
Thanks loopyc! I was also told to make myself as "Uncomfortable" as possible.Sounds daft I know but it really helps along with the tonic water:-))
Some regular leg stretching exercise before bedtime sometimes helps, including stretching the calf muscles and holding them in the "stretch" position for at least 30 seconds until you can really feel them become taut.
This can also be a sign of lack of potassium. Try increasing your potassium intake - such as eating more bananas.
I don't have a cure, but my husband suffers with this in the night and it's so annoying. He doesn't know he is moving them about.
i get this every night when I am tired and sometimes i still wake up in the night with this - sleep is the only solution - i have suffered since a child and is known as eeby jeebies in the north
try hypnosis - it worked for a friend of mine.

thanks for all the advice everyone. ivehad this since i was 11 and im 50 something now. it seems to be getting worse. blood test showed my potassium was slightly raised so it cant be that. and funnily enough the rare occasions i drink tonic water i find im addicted to it and drink the whole bottle. i too suffer in my sleep. i confess i dont walk much and have a hot bath every night. i find the only time i dont get it IS when im moving about. i get the same feeling in the bottom of my spine too .it is heartwarming though to know so many people bothered to reply.
