Just wondering exactly how much do they wax? Also, how long does the hair need to be.

Anyone had any bad experiences (or good)?

I am being serious.

Expected loads of pervy blokes to be on to this one though!

I saw a programme about Hollywood lifestyles ages ago and the presenter was discussing this and then sent the camera away while she had one.The camera waited outside and a small scream was heard. The presenter then came out walking funny.I think she was probably exaggerating for the camera.
Sorry Miss Cake...I shall leave
To my knowledge, it involves waxing ALL of the hair between your legs, front AND back...if you see what I mean. I believe they leave a small "landing strip" at the top of the area. I haven't had it done, but OMG ! I think I'd have to be heavily sedated if I ever do ! Ouch...
I have had it several times, the full one (Hollywood) its pretty bad the first time but very quick after that and if you have a skilled therapist they are very adept .. in fact where I went they all did it on each other (gawd what male fantasies am I starting off) Once you have it I doubt if you could go back to the old way .. and that is what they all said, you feel so much nicer ...

I've heard bad stories about people bleeding and not being able to walk!

I'm hoping this is because they went to a bad therapist rather than it being the norm!

nah .. you might not want to go out that evening but next day everything is fine ..
I was wondering about that too, lady_p_gold. Also, don't you feel very awkward having it done ? I mean, I guess you have to be very exposed....do they make you feel comfortable enough? and do they apply something to numb the pain ? Sorry to hijack your thread angel-cake !

No problem maximo! I forgot to ask how much you have to strip off!
They'll wax as much as you ask them to wax...from experience you have to ask for more to be taken off. Might just be my salon but they tend to start quite tame....it hurts like hell but well worth it. best to just tell the waxer what youwant and take a bit extra each session so youget used to it... gets easier every trip

with regards to how much youneed to strip down.... it does depend greatly on the salon. I prefer naked waist down as you can get more of an idea but a thong.g-string helps if you're kinda shy

OUCH ! OUCH ! OUCH ! OUCH!!!!!
No, but I do get my eyebrows waxed every 4 - 6 weeks, I'm blind as a bat without my glassed on, I used to pluck them with magnifing mirror and but kept nipping my skin instead of pulling out hairs " Ouch! " xxx :-)
My hubby occasionally shaves me but I'd love to be hairless for longer. I'd feel too self conscious to go to a salon tho. I have tried doing it myself but it hurts like hell.
sure hurts like hell. will never do it again.
go for it, it's not that bad. It you're like a yeti tho (i sometimes like to let it grow!) trim it down before you go or it really will hurt like hell. Sometimes I'll do it myself in between and it actually hurts less than the salon I reckon. All in all tho it's not that bad unless you've never had any waxing anywhere before in which case it would be a bit of a shock! Be prepared to look like a plucked chicken afterwards, and sometimes it does get quite sore a couple of hrs after and I find aloe vera gel soothes it brilliantly.

I just shave mine once a week, have considered the wax,but it all sounds too painful.I'll stick to my pink gillettes thanks!!!

My girlfriend did it recently & as much as I thought I'd like it, I really didnt. I thought it looked unnatural & too much like a pre-pubescent girl (or even a barbie doll)which didnt make me feel any better about it either. Also after just a couple of days, the little prickles started comming out & made her really itchy as well as all the ones that became ingrown & formed red pimples (not attractive). I also found it too prickly on me. In my (male) opinion the natural bushy look & feel is better any day.
