Why can't the pipelines that were used to drain the North Sea oil from Scotland to England, now be used to syphon off the water for those poor souls in Southern England who are having to drink bottled water because all the reservoirs are now running on empty?
I live in the SE, and my local reservoir normally takes water from the Thames, (Essex and Suffolk Water), but it also gets piped from the Lake District, so some sort of grid must be in place, we also have no hosepipe ban.
Did I imagine it or did I really hear a radio item about a bloke who used a long hose to allow his neighbour to wash the car and sprinkle the lawn because the dividing line between two water authorities ran along their boundary? One was subject to a hosepipe ban and the other wasn't. Crazy or what?
