What happens if you keep it in over a long period of time... for instance, I deteste going to the loo at work. I feel REALLY bloated and I know I need the toilet, but I would normally just hold it until I get home at approx. 6pm tonight.

What are the dangers of doing this on a regular basis?

Many thanks!

i quite often sit down for a wee, especially late at night when i finish work so i dont have to worry about being to noisy.
and if i need a number 2 anywhere except home, i will never ever use a cubicle that has the toilet seat fully down. god knows what could be lurking underneath that lid!! lol
If you sit down for a wee do you have to bend it a funny way though??
i have to coil it all the way round the bowl a couple of times yeah!! lol
Hello !!!!!!!!!!!!!

One ring to rule them all....... YIKES, I'm getting out of here before it really DOES hit the fan!!!!!!!!!!
I've heard that you don't get it all out if you're standing (number 1 that is!) Not sure if it's true or not and only tried sitting once just after I heard that. Didn't notice any difference though.

I also won't go for a number 2 at work and have almost on occasions had to drive through red lights on the way home in order to avoid an 'incident'!
I don't get this whole thing! What's the big deal about pooping in public places? If it's coz of the germs I can kinda understand that but if it's coz ytour co-workers might smell you when your finished......isn't that what a toilet is for!?! This whole phenomenon about our poop stinking (and not like roses) applies for us all you know! I don't get this whole thing!!!!

As for the long term damage.....I can only guess that it's really bad for you. You body needs to get rid of the rubbish it doesn't use....imagine carrying around a bag of rubbish in you arms all day every day....your arms would be killing after a while....the same can only be said for your bowels! Poop already!
Oh sasha you made me feel much better I thought I was the only one who put paper down to stop the plopping.
I have been known to cover the seat with paper when the kids go on a public loo though which i thing my gran taught me.
you are probably in danger of getting a kidney infection. Letting the pee back up like that, no healthy. Just go for goodness sake that's what the toilets at work are there for, right. It's not like you are the only person in the world who pee or the other.
I used to stress over the same thing as well. If the seat is unclean use a seat cover or clean the seat with a wet paper towel or something. As for going #2 i'm lucky as we have single room toilets so i free to go and pity anyone that goes in after me although it's not like they will know it was me. It's a natural function, we all do it so why be uncomfortable. Just go!!!!
