at 52 sick fed of trying to pay the bills, cant afford anything not even a holiday, how many hours to i have to work to have some sort of lifestyle, so given up now, i want to get out the rut and change my way of life, i am single with no commitments, has anyone one done it and how did they get on, did they come back into the system

Hi Heather, I know how you feel. Selling up and travelling light is one way of changing your life. Get a credit card, using a safe address, sell your unused baggage and go. Start off say touring the highlands, by car if you drive. See what develops. A part time job behind some Scottish bar, helping out at an agency. Put yourself into the swiftly flowing river of life.
Though be careful, don�t live in fear, but just be aware of obvious and not so obvious dangers.
Travel will broaden your mind, and the experience will change your life. You will need a certain amount of financial backup just in case. Years ago I travelled the world in the Merchant Navy in catering. Not ideal, but a safe haven to return to the ship. Life is too short to build regrets, and you sound like you are regretting your present life. Good luck to you.
