Hi - would anybody out there know for definite if your doctor gets paid for every visit you pay them or would you be considered a nuisance patient.

In other words does your doctor like to see you because she/he gets paid. thanks for any information.

Have been with this doctor about a year and half but dont have a rapport with her at all. I find she talks down to me and I dont like it.

i believe that Doctors are paid depending on how many patients are in their practice - it is not per individual, more a sliding scale. They also get extra incentives for things like the level of patients who have smear tests or vaccinations for children. They also get money for the services they offer within their practice and if they do their own out of hours service. So I think that if you dont go, they are getting paid for you anyway. If you don't have a good rapport with your Doctor, you can move to another any time by going to a new doctor and requesting to be added to their list. If they accept you, they will request your file from your old doctor - it is quite simple really. You need yo bear in mind that if your new doctor does not cover your area, they will not supply you with home visits etc (but then what doctor does nowadays!)

thanks annie
annie is right. GP's are paid for the amount of patients they have on their list and probably do tend to think of some patients as being a nuisance.
I would personally consult with a different GP in your surgery if you are not happy with the one you normally see.

Unfortunately Cruella there is only one other doctor in the practice and he is very very dour and unapproachable. I will look into moving to a different practice altogether within the next few months.
Why put off homerbart.
Just ask around and find out if anyone can recommend a fairly good practice.
Just go to the new Surgery of your choice and ask them if they would take you in their list.
Best of luck!
