i am just in tears ,not the fact that i was going away today and couldnt get on the m4 ,will go tomrrow ,but those poor innocent couple that died
I just read about it shanx. The couple who died, had just returned from visiting their family in Ireland. Very very sad

it is you
Question Author
thank you petal havent found out who they were,i feel so so sad for them, i live near the spot, so i feel a little responsable
shanx, why would you feel responsible?

Its when you hear of terrible things like this happening, you think, what if the people in the other car had taken a later/earlier ferry. they would still be alive. Would of escaped the idiots.
I do have to make a point that my mum said to me the other day - Ronnie Biggs is now 78 years old & basically dying. His lawyers are fighting for his release from prison on humanitarian or health grounds. Yes he ruined the life of Jack Mills the train driver, - yes he seemed to be made into a "star" through his escape from the police & living the high life, but my mum's point was that there have been more horrific crimes since with the criminal getting just a slap on the wrist! (my contribution was the 2 kids that murdered Jamie Bulger - aren't they now released ?) I somehow think that they would be more of a threat to the public now aged in their mid 20s than a 78 year old man.
I will also add that my mum is 78 - so she would have been well aware of the train robbery
Ooops & my point was - why are we keeping very ill 78 year old men in prison - when the sentence for people who can do far worse crimes are let off/released after less than 10 years?
Question Author
maybe i dont know,i always think it could be me or mine, and put myself in there position, even if i dont know them, maybe i am wrong ,but thats the way i am
you're not wrong shanx. Most caring people would feel the same
Question Author
how can four young lads bring so much misery to so maney people in one day?
yes, and how so many lives are changed forever.

Its heartbreaking shanx
How do you know they were 'drugies' (your word) and not just tired? The M4 is always pretty messed-up and not well-signposted at the best of times
they had been pursued by police earlier.
Ahh, that is a terrible shame and even sadder, but in fact that makes matters worse, that the police were unable to reach a satisfactory end to the situation without bungling it. I still cannot believe that anyone would wish someone dead on a public forum; it has upset me so much before I sleep, it seems abnormal to think of their parents willing them to live and for a stranger to be hoping that they will die, especially as they only are still young. I'm sorry but that sentiment has knocked me back as it is so negative and full of hatred and lack of potential forgiveness
Question Author
i am not in the mood to get argumentive sorry, the m4 is well sighposted and the lads knew where they were, the police were after them following them, when they went down the wrong way on the moterway the police let them go,at the end of the day the police would have had the blame for persuing them, but it wasnt so
its not the parents fault though that the teenagers were driving down a motorway on the wrong side of the road though cointreau.

here is the link

hi shanx, I hope it was not me that you think is getting argumentative, I have just had problems on that road myself and I would like to agree with your sentiments about the innocent people who were killed. It is kind of you to think about those people but I also feel sorry for the other people too. I certainly didn't mean to say that I disagree with your post that people shouldn't drink/abuse etc and drive. Sorry if I came across as argumentative.
I can`t see how the police "bungled" it...they did the right thing by not following them....if they did then the death toll would probably have been much higher
Thank you for the link, petal-flower. And Elvis, I'm sure you are right as I know nothing about police car chases (other than seen on reality TV, of course)
