hello
i have a bad ingrown toenail and about a week ago i went to the doctor and got some antibiotics, had the toe bandaged up and was told not to get it wet. i've been back a couple of times since to have the bandage changed by the nurse but i think it's actually making it worse (worse than before i went to the doctor in the first place) so i've now taken the bandage off, cleaned my toe with tcp and i'm letting some air get to it. i'm still taking the antibiotics and my next appointment is tomorrow but am I doing the right thing? To me it already seems a bit better now the bandage is off but i dont want to go against the nurses advice when i don't really know what i'm talking about. sorry, this bit is a bit gross - the damaged skin was weeping quite a bit and i just don't think it being wrapped up for days on end can possibly help. any thoughts? thank you!

Another visit to the doctor, that`s what you pay the NHS for. No doctor will blame you for that if you`re concerned.
I think fresh air is a great healer, unless there is a risk of dirt getting into the wound, I would only cover it if I had to go out or something, Around the house I would let the air get to it.

yeah that was my plan, i work from home which is helpful so i was going to cover it with if plaster if i need to go out but otherwise just leave it and make sure it stays clean
