hi im 14 years old and about 5"4" i weigh 8.5 stone and im not comfortable with my weight. my thighs are really big and im very selfconsious ( sorry about the spelling ) about them. when i go swimming and thats not very often i wear shorts. i want to feel comfortable with my weight.so my questions are how can i lose weight on my thighs? and also what am i ment to weigh?
I would say your weight is just about perfect- lucky you! Don't worry about your thighs! Most women would KILL to be 8.5 stone.I know it's a cliche, but only you are aware of the bits of your body you don't like. To everyone else you look completely normal. If you are worried about wobbly bits, step up your exercise! Doing more sport will firm up your leg muscles, and you will probably gain confidence about your legs as you feel yourself getting more firm!
awww thank u so much Scarlett, that means alot. your right i should excerise to tone my thighs. i stil think they are to big. yea i guess i am in a way the only one that sees my thighs. my friend put me down when she told me she was 8 stone thats why i want to lose weight. thank u so much Scarlett. :)
I'd go with scarlett. You sound perfect!! I was the same at 14. Everything was too big, too small, too fat, not fat enough (as if :)..). Walking is brill for tightening the legs and also good for the circulation.
Put those fashion mags away and get on with having fun. And don't listen to 'friends' who say things like that, she could be secretly jealous that her curves aren't as good as yours!!!
it sounds to me like you have a very healthy weight but if you want to be sure check out this website http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsb urned.htm
Go to the healthy body calculator link at the bottom. You don't have to key in all the information they ask (can skip the body fat and calorie distribution sections) but its good to measure your elbow width and key it in along with your hip and waist measurements. I think this is a good way of calculating your ideal weight as it not only takes into account your height and gender but also your frame size. For example 2 separate people who are 5'4" like you may have completely different bone structures and therefore it is unrealistic to expect both of these people to be of the same ideal weight.
All in all you are too young to be worrying about your weight! So long as you are eating a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg and not too much junk and your energy levels are reasonable then you should be ok. Also, I defeinitely agree with Lindy loo - dump the fashion mags (if you do read them), they have only one ambition - to promote an the beauty products of large companies and make money.
thank u all of you. i smile came on my face as i read your amswers. they all ment alot. i wil walk more to tighten my tihghs :). good excuse to go out hehehe. thank you so much. you made me feel a bit better about myself :). thankx once again :)
I was about to post something about women with scrawny thighs, but then re-reading the question I noticed your age and I don't want the police kicking down my door.
I would say that you've probably got a few more years till your body develops fully, and you will probably reshape and tone. Horseriding is supposed to help, but you'll end up with iron thighs as opposed to smaller ones.
A bit late but, i'm 15 and ( i hate to say it) i'm only 7 stone. Belive me it's a bad thing. Other than frequently being taken advantage of because people think they can push me around ( amongst friends, which often breaks my firendships up! a big bad!)
Don't worry about it, just exercise a bit more, maybe do a bit of running on the spot for 5 - 10 minutes while listening to music...maybe exchange the daily crisps or chocolate for fruit...it really helps. I might be skinny but i often feel uncomfortable about showing my body and just do some exercise! Good luck.
thank you onewayroad i will some sit ups and running on the spot everyday, thats a realy good idea. thank u all for the help. made me feel happyer. and you are lucky to be 7 stone! hehehe thanx again
Don't worry too much about what your scales say.
If you start doing more exercise, you will build up more muscles, and get slimmer, but heavier at the same time.
(Muscles are heavier than fat!)
Learn to like yourself, and funny enough, the result will be, that other people will like you more, too!
:o)
Believe me Lizzie, when you look at pictures of yourself in 10 years time you'll wonder what you were worried about! When I was 14 I was an inch shorter and 3 pounds lighter than you and thought I was fat, but now at age 24 and 9st 10 I wish I was that size again.
