As an NHS "frontline" staff I've been offered the jab..."theory" tells me I should but ... I don't trust it has had all the correct tests, (even though they say it has)...look at the thalolimide story years ago...that was "safe" too.

Hi zac........you can't force her.....that would be physical assault.
Yes. I go tomorrow for my ordinary flu jab. If the swine flu one was available I'd have it too. What may happen in the distant future doesn't concern me, getting through the next winter does.

Yes squad - know what you mean - we've been told we are "very irresponsible" if we don't have it
No I wouldn't. Zacsmaster, no one can be forced to have it - that would be illegal.
eve,,,that's "mental assault" :-)

OOOpsss I MEANT "Yes" to Zac regarding the nhs forcing it on us. You're right (squad) it can't physically be forced but there is strong coersion there.!!!! Seasonal flu jabs been around for so so long - with each season only requireing minor alterations...
Yes but not being a high risk case I won't go out of my way to get it.

Thalidomide was a new drug, there is huge experience in doing flu vaccines it's not in any way comperable

not nice squad :-) haha
You can't hold someone down

You could make it a condition of employment when in contact with vulnerable patients.

And yes they can just change your contract of employment it's part of what is euphemistically called our "flexible emploment laws" in the UK
Question Author
i'm not saying I WONT - just that at present I am so undecided. ... I doubt the NHS would change contracts etc... so not "forcing" us but there really is ALOT of pressure for us to have it done.

by the way - just to throw something in the mixing pot - most of the doctors I have asked said they would recommend it to patients but NOT actually have it themselves.....interesting
2 types...one with an activator and one without an activator.

The activator hasn't been tested in extensive trials.

You will not be told which vaccine you are given.....with OR without the activator.
I am considered high risk (asthma and emphysema) but have only ever once had the basic flu jab several years ago. Since then I have had no flu jabs,no pneumonia jab and will not be attending for the swine flu jab when offered it.
Question Author
Yes - we will know WHICH one (or at least where I work anyway we will be told) it's to be Pandremix or celvapan - i need to find out which one is which though. I THINK the pandremix is the activated one ?
I'll just stick with my cough and sneeze remedy.....a very hot curry. Does the job.
Got any links to that sqad?

I'm having trouble validating that
