Hello all,

A very happy New year to all our Onwards and Downwards crew. I hope you all had a lovely time over Christmas and let yourselves have a treat now and then. I expect we shall gain a few more members this months, well the more the merrier I say.

We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Morning All, My weigh in will be on Friday morning. We are buying our new scales tomorrow. I hope the rest of you do well today...onwards and downwards....
It is now nearly 4 weeks from xmas and finally I have made a start. Loss of 1 lb . I have not been 100% but I have not had cakes or sweets. It is not easy in this weather but hopefully now I am on my way again. As long as I don't gain I will be happy to lose this stone and a half slowly.
Good for you Wendilla. That is certainly the right attitude.
Ah, new scales may mean unexpected step in value. Ah well, trust to luck.

Another 3½ lbs down this week, but I'm wondering how much of it is muscle rather than fat, given I've been ill, doing and eating little.
Congrats Wend.
I started my diet on the 14th Jan. at 14.10 and todays weight is 14.7, im aiming at just under 13 stone to be my ideal weight for height.
Thanks OG and well done . Ratter well done it looks like you know what you are doing. My secret is a small glass of unsweetened grapejuice every morning but I must stress that some people on certain medication are not allowed to take this. I have not been drinking this the last few weeks but back on it now. Xstitcher thanks and I am sure you will rectify what the scales say if you have a gain. New scales new start.
thanks Wendilla, I know little of dieting, never done it before. Im starting the day with a bowl of grapefruit with a two spoons of natural yoghurt and then eating a fair bit of salads with small amounts of pasta and cheese to give it some substance, from today I will be having less cheese and more fish and chicken. I dont add sugar to anything and I have just a few drops of semi skimmed milk in my tea. Im still eating quite large amounts, I dont like getting hungry! so far im pleased with the results.
Sounds like a good start to me. How are these big dogs of yours coping in the snow if you have any.
Barely a speck of snow here until this morning, its snowing a little now but not settling yet.
I hope you are well on the way to recovery OG. Fingers crossed I get scales that I like....... :-) Watch this space..
Thanks. Unsure, one moment I seem improved and think I could go in, later in the day I wonder what the heck I was thinking of. Have to make a decision tomorrow as to whether to go in and not be able to achieve a lot, or accept my word isn't accepted as trustworthy and get a GP, who clearly can be trusted, to vouch for me :-(

But why I was posting again was to say is that I've made the effort to check what I've really ate over the last week. Sure no major 'over target' days, but only 4 'under target'. Not sure I understand how I think I have consumed little, and yet seemed to have found high energy stuff somehow.

Congrats Ratter, I seem to be a little ahead of you, and wish to drop further, but there again it's taken me many months to get where I am now so I think you'll soon rush past.
Just to let you know I didn't even weigh myself this week. I am opting out for a week or so. I have a young relative who is terminally ill and I just can't concentrate on my food at the moment. Hopefully see yiu in a few weeks and get started on the downward slope again.
How sad for you spotit. Just remember to eat. You will need all the strength you can muster. We shall be thinking of you.
Best of luck coping with it all; we'll hear from you in a while then.
SPOTIT Sorry to read about yout young relative. I hope things will improve. Take care and look forward to seeing you back with good news.
Sorry to hear that spotit, we will all be thinking of you im sure.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Hope to be back on in a few weeks. Unfortunately there can only be a sad ending to it.
Thinking of you Spotit3 and remeber we're hear for a chat if you need one.

Congratulations to the losers this week, great start Ratter. I've remained the same this week and agree that its difficult in this weather. We dug our way out of the snow on my day off and promptly went out for lunch! Just needed to go somewhere and although it wasn't a really bad lunch it was hardly a salad either! Never mind, I'm happy to maintain rather than to regain and thats what really matters. I'm not eatling between meals and am having healthy breakfast and lunches, its just main meal which I need to address again. Onwards and downwards.
