Cash Machine
7 Answers
Does anyone know the position... I drew £60 from a cash machine - duly authorised and the card was returned - but I neglected to take the money from the slot, I got distracted talking but I returned 5 mins later and it was gone. (yes, my own daft fault). Question is, if it didn't get stolen does it get re-swallowed back in after that beeping noise?

It does get sucked back into the machine after 30 seconds or something. You have to phone the bank and they will check their systems as the machine should be over unless someone knicked it that is. My mum did the same a few months ago and she got it back eventually. They can take a while to check :|

Recently, walking towards a bank (which was closed) I saw some money sticking out. A girl (teenager) ran across the road, grabbed the money and ran back to her friend, laughing. Now I don't know whether she had forgotten to take it herself or had also seen it sticking out and 'stolen' it. I phoned the bank the next day (not my home town) but they said they couldn't tell me anything about it due to customer confidentiality!
If it makes you feel better I once left £300 sticking out of the machine and walked away. Wasnt until I got back to my car I realised what I had done (trouble with multitasking is nothing gets done properly!) Someone had taken the money out and handed it in at the bank. God bless em. so maybe someone will do the same with yours.
