Abbeylee. I hope you get your pay query sorted out. PS If you're ever going to be able to afford a place of your own, I think you'll need more than 30 hours a week ... and possibly a better paid job!

That's 80 hours work - how many hours did you work ? If over 80 then you've been underpaid, if less than 80 then you've been overpaid. Just do the maths.
Is that before or after deductions?
But you haven't said how many hours you've actually worked?

Are you working a period 'in hand' meaning you are always been paid in arrears?
I think she works 30 hours a week

30 hours per week
Before or after deductions?
Your payslip should show the period you've been paid and the hours worked.
Abbey it would help if you gave all the facts, total hours worked, deductions are you on emergency tax etc etc
A £200-£300 slice-off seems 'reasonable' if you deduct National Insurance and Tax, - it depends on the code you are on.....
But the fact that its such a round number of hour's suggests theres no Nat Ins or pension and it is below Nat In thresh hold anyway. It could be 80 hours at no tax or 100 hours at emergency tax (all at 20 pc). Either way it looks wrong if its a full month.
But 4th Aug is a friday .. is that when you started.
Depends on the pay cycle.
Best asking at work
I think she should be paying around £79 a month tax and £50 national insurance.
Your right barry... when I said its under the NI thesh hold I was going off the 888£ a month but of course that figure dont look like a full months gross.
Basically we need so much more infomation she's better off asking at work... there should be a simple answer
All she needs to know will be on her wage slip
barry, not if it just says gross pay £888.80, deductions nil. net pay £888.80
They dont always clearly state dates worked, hourly rate etc
Surely they do in this day and age, with computer generated payslips.
Barry mine wage slip does not give a breakdown of hours just of deductibles
Are you salaried, paid the same each month regardless of hours worked?
Yes, but so could Abbey be.
She could be contracted to work 30 hours but have a flexi agreement.
Unfortunately we need Abbey to provide more information than the number of hours she is supposed to work per week.
We need
the number of hours worked in the month in question
what tax code she is on
how much tax she has paid

TBH this I would be uncomfortable with her posting so much information - if she thinks she has been underpaid or is even just unsure of her pay - she needs to contact her pay department and ask for an explaination
Mie was salaried but varies now but doesnt give specifics- just says 'for hours worked between say 2/9 and 30/9
Your are right, Helen. That's the only way Abbey is going to find out, we can only speculate
