I'm 28 weeks today and have noticed that if I lay on my left side or my back, I feel a bit 'funny'! I wouldn't say faint... but a little off!

I can now only sleep on my right side!

Am I imagining this or are anyone else getting this????

its not wise to sleep on your back in late pregnancy as baby's weight is pushing on your main artery and can make you feel very off and faint etc,.

The ideal side is to lie on your left hand side as this gives the best blood flow to the placenta and baby.

The right hand side is ok so dont worry if thats the only side you can get comfy on andrea. I spend all night flipping from one side to the other.

You can buy body pillows which help you get a better nights rest. They support your bump and legs.

Redcrx is right honey , also do you find your right side more comfy if your tummy is a bit fuller ?
Question Author
Possibly, I do eat a bit late (about 8ish). Should I be eating earlier?

I tend to put my son to bed and then me and hubby have a good old chinwag over the stove, so ends up eating late!

Mind you, If I eat early, I just end up eating again before bed! My poor fridge!

Hi Andrea, I am 35+6 and I can sleep on either left or right side!
I think when i was about 28weeks I would wake up on my back a lot, and it would worry me as I know it's not really good.
In recent weeks I have had big problems sleeping at all, mostly I was getting 2hours on, 2hours off, etc. In all honesty I didn't think those pillows that red mentioned would be much cop, but my hubby bought me one over the weekend and... my god... what a difference! I slept well the first night I used it and then last night I slept from 9:30pm until 5:30am this morning, and even when I do wake throughout the night it is easier to get back to sleep because it is easier to get comfortable! It was 25 from Argos, although I am sure if you look around you will probably find one cheaper elsewhere.
As red says, sleeping on your left side is best as it gives best circulation (and can help with swollen ankles, etc, if that is a problem), however any amount of sleep on either side is a start! LOL

Cheers natalie_1982, I might invest in one of those pillows you and red say, if I can get some sleep then I'm sure I would feel so much better!

Now to eradicate other problem (snoring hubby!) Hmmm! LOL
pillow will be handy for that too lol

this is the one i bought http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp? productid=1085136&classificationid=1034959

LOL Red!

Looks fab, I often stuff the duvet between my legs to cwtch up! That might do the trick!

Cheers x x x x
Andrea, don't even joke about snoring hubby!

Mine drives me nuts, I am not sure whether it is the snoring noise itself or the fact that every snore seems to rub it in a little deeper that he is asleep and I am not!
Question Author
Natalie- LOL

thats sometimes what I think. And he has the cheek to say in the morning "Oh I just couldn't sleep last night!"

What a flipping liar! Big noisy liar! x x x x
do what i do andrea, when Mr CRX says he couldnt sleep.

I say
well you were asleep when i went to the loo, twice
you were asleep when i was turning over and over with restless legs
you were asleep when i sat up in bed for an hour at 4am eating rennies to get rid of indigestion
you were asleep when i couldnt sleep because your snoring was too loud.
etc etc etc
PMSL - Red I might try that one!

If it is not the fact that he is snoring it is because he lollops his arm across me, not a gentle little cuddle or anything nice like that - like I am not hot or achey enough already that what I could really do with is a heavy arm draped over my side (you know the bit where it used to be a waist? LOL).
i know EXACTLY what you mean Nat. Mr CRX does it too. but i now just say loudly 'youre squashing the baby and me, GET OFF!!!'

We are the ones going through the physical changes, the aches and pains, the cange in body shape. They should get some discomfort, especially if they are gonna get away with night feeds etc. Plus it does help them be a bit more sympathetic towards the sleepless nights.
Hi ladies,

I very nearly walloped MrMB last night: I got back into bed after going to the loo and faced his back, then he turned to face me. He then coughed into the pillow which I was grateful for and thought he was being thoughtful. Then he did another almighty cough but this time right in my face and spat on my cheek in the process. Lovely!! He was fast asleep so didn't have a clue what he'd done.

The strangest thing happened when I woke this morning. I was half lying on my back and half on my side and, as I do every morning I felt my tummy. I was shocked to discover that he was curled right up by my ribs and my lower abdomen was completely flat. I was worried he'd changed into a really awkward position but after I got up he seemed to be in his usual head down position and has stayed that way ever since. So I have no idea what that was all about!
ROFL
I know exactly what you mean, I have even found myself cursing MrNat for daring to breathe in my direction
i wonder if maybe we might be feeling a little bit more touchy at mo......................................nah cant be that! lol

MB, how strange that little Boo curled uplike that. baby CRX has dropped all the way to bottom of my bump so i shall have to see at scan tomorrow whats going on. All movement is right low down too

Just an update,

Just got back from midwife appointment that I actually managed to remember, everything fine other than the little witch being breach!

I hope I have enough time for her to turn! I'm 28 weeks, any tips?????
When I was 28 weeks mine was the same so midwife told me to rub/massage very gently in an anti-clockwise motion. I thought she was pulling my leg but it must have worked because by the time I went for the 31 week appt he'd gone head down. Give it a try x
Question Author
I'll certainly give it a try! Thanks x x x x
