Morning ladies!

I thought i'd started last night and got very excited, but fell asleep and was gutted to wake this morning and realise that it had stopped. I know what my BH feels like now (well, i think so) - tightenings across my abdomen, and from what i've read, a proper contraction should be a period type pain low down with possibly some back pain... Well, last night i was lying in bed getting these low down period type pains and they weren't too painful but not subtle either. Was getting some back ache too although could have been how i was lying. and this happened quite a few times within the space of an hour and a half (yes, all the while, hubby is snoring next to me and i'm watching the clock go to 1.30am.....thankfully my loyal cat keeps me company!) Anyway, i've obviously drifted off becuase at 3.20 i was up for the loo and felt nothing.

I'm only one day over and i can feel the frustration really taking hold already. I've decided to get outside today (not been out for days) and tempt fate - going to mooch around the tesco extra (i'm weird, i like supermarkets!), buy something nice for tea and hope that being outside tempts fate... We'll see!

so could what i felt last night still have been BH or could i have started?? and can this behaviour go on for weeks??

morning Nat, Red, MBoo, Psychick, Warpig et al! xx

hi all,

I couldnt sleep very well last night either. I was getting painless BH regularly every 10mins from 8pm onwards and lasting 1 minute. This is exactly what happened last time and i was told when i went for induction that these were contractions rather than BH but didnt hurt because baby wasnt on cervix. so gonna do my best this eve to crawl araound on all fours and get babys head on cervix.

I think baby has turned head down but i have no idea what its doing. You know when you roast a turkey and have to shove your hand between the skin and bones to get butter in (or is that just me?) well it feels like baby is doing that in front of my pubic bone, which is rather weird.

My cats love the crib we have got (its in lounge ready) so we set it to swing and put the car seat in it and now they wont go near it. It hasnt got any sheets on though so its not too tempting.

I hope you get some rest during the day nataile, its back to my desk for me after the long weekend so I hope its farily quiet.

Lorrymac, i hope that youre getting some progress with your BHs today. x
Hi Red - no word from Lorrymac. I wonder if the BHs did progress.... how exciting!

Poor you being back at work, I am due to go back tomorrow (we get Tuesdays with every Bank Holiday Monday which is nice), but depending on how I sleep tonight i may start my mat leave early for the sake of 3 days, as I would have to finish Friday anyway. I shall play it by ear and see in the morning.

No sorry, nothing new from me! i've had a great sleep last night (about 10 hours and not interrupted too often!) and i've had my cleaning/sorting head on today - my bedroom drawers are all over my bedroom floor and i'm hoovering them out!! i am officially lost it. however, i did decide yesterday that i'm getting nowhere just sat waiting for things to happen and that today i was going to get my butt in gear and get some stuff done. I have invited a friend over for a roast chicken dinner tonight (secretly hoping i have to cancel cos i might go into labour - am i awful?!) and i'm spending the whole day cleaning/tidying/sorting....

Natalie - you must have lots of clothes already to be able to sort them in that order!! i have everything arranged but more clothes on one drawer, nappies in another, blankets and sheets in another.... However, i did organise all my books the other day in size order....!!! i'd blame it on the pregnancy but i can't.

As for pains etc yesterday was very uneventful as was last night. i was hoping to wake up with something but no, i slept thru till 10am this morning....

So Red, how long were you getting BH like that for??? when you seeing your midwife next to see if baby has turned?

Lorraine xx
sounds like youre in nesting mode maybe. getting ready and tidy for new arrival. I had the motivation to do it at weekend but not the energy lol

Last time around these contractions lasted for 5 weeks. The consultants at hospital when i went in for induction said they were contractions rather than BHs as they were regular and timed but they werent painful as they had no way of progressing.

No i know from that experience that i need to get bubs in right position so will spend the eve on all fours lol

Hi ladies, I, too, have been busy "nesting" LOL

I had a bath, with the intention of going back to bed for a couple of hours, but didn't feel like it so cleaned the bathroom and am now (well I was until I decided to come check on here) blitzing the kitchen. We've been living here 9months and still I can't get used to things being in certain places in the kitchen, I keep moving things around in the hope it feels 'right' but then I don't like it and so move it round again!
I have sorted the steriliser out so everything is unwrapped and ready to go too, and the baby cupboard is all sorted and tidy :-)

(Just realised that looks like we have a cupboard in which we'll be keeping the baby LOL. Of course I meant that it is full of baby feeding things!!)

We don't have that many clothes really Lorraine, I haven't gone mad because we don't know the sex and also the newborn sleepsuits look so tiny that I ended up buying neutral 0-3 sizes too because I would be surprised if newbron size are big enough. Then my mum was in Tesco and saw a load of body suits at half price for 3-6months so we wound up with them too! I must admit I can't wait to be able to go out and buy "real" clothes in real colours, not just white, cream and flipping lemon!!
ive got a baby cupboard and i think baby may well end up sleeping in there to keep him / her out of little CRXs reach lol

you can never have too many babygros so buying up to 6 month size isnt a problem. Little CRX was born too big for newbornand grew out of 0-3 months by 6 weeks. They are alwasy handy for under sleeping bags and outfits too.

Im getting pains with my BHs now, cant stand up for fear of everything falling out either. My bump is hard most of time and baby isnt moving a great deal as its restricted.

i wonder..............................................................
Just checking on whos still here! Looks like its going to be a race to the line for you three!

Lorrymac, I started blitzing my house too but unfortunately went into labour in th middle of it and couldnt finish! When the midwife arrived that evening, I had to apologise for stuff I had been shifing or cleaning now being in the way lol
I am just checking in too psychick. Have to laugh at lorrymac hoovering the drawers out, makes my cobweb mania seem quite sane now!

As for clothes, I couldnt believe the amount of clothes people have bought the piglet, dont know how she is ever gonna wear them all. Thankfully a lot of people bought clothes for older ages so she may get the chance to wear them. One of my friends asked what she should get the baby and I suggested some Jo Malone body lotion, chocolate and flowers! and guess what? That is exactly what she bought -mums need pampering too.
just watch with clothes that they are ok for the season. Some people thought it great idea to get little CRX 6 month clothes which were shorts and t-shirts and he never got to wear them because he was a July baby lol

Evening ladies!

I have been a trooper today. i have baked cakes for my neighbours and done a smashing roast chicken dinner and chocolate pudding for tea.....and still NO BABY! I think i'm feeding it too well!! I have been on my feet pretty much all day though so i'm hoping that will be helping. Baby is more active at the moment as it usually is at night and i have a moderate amount of pain/aching down there with back pain but that could well be due to the amount of washing up i've done today!! humph!

We have no clothes yet Natalie - just a few packs of baby grows and some that people have donated. But yes, we did as you have and bought the next size up in case new born is too small. We decide that we'd rather wait till we knew what the sex was and then buy some more clothes on the back of that. i've been warned too that people buy you loads of clothes and that so many go to waste so we've been quite restrained so far and only bought some bumper packs from tesco!

So Red, you thinking that you could actually be in labour after all?? i can't believe you were having contractions for 5 weeks! is that normal? How are you feeling now?

Natalie - how are you doing? made a decision about work yet??

My mum went into labour with both me and my brother in the middle of the night and thinks the same thing will happen to me.... I'm sat on the sofa now feeling pretty stuffed but will hop on the ball soon for some rocking... isn't it weird to be actually disappointed to wake up and see daylight?!?!?

night all xx

Forgot to tell you all........My baby's due date is actually the date my husband was due (almost 25 years ago....) and he was late and born on the 28th. At this rate the same thing might happen to me - don't you think that's a bit freaky???
Morning all - I'm still here! Legs are a bit achey this morning but I think that is due to the standing up I did yesterday, I just hoovered and my back is killing me now so I am going to have some brekkie and watch GMTV instead.

When the office opens I will ring in and start my mat leave early. I am ok just pottering around to myself, but it's sitting down at the PC that makes my coccyx hurt really bad, and seeing as I sit at a desk all day I think I should probably give it a miss! I'll ony be leaving a couple of days early really as Friday was due to be my last day (it also means I get to duck out of all the hugs and kisses and false nicies from people I don't really like that much. Ooooh I'm a bad person!).

I haven't really had any pains or tightenings since yesterday am but I slept loads better last night and have a list of chores to get done today so hopefully that should get things moving. My friend is going in to be induced with her twins this afternoon so fingers crossed for her too.

So you reckon it could be Friday then Lorraine? My hubby has asked (joking of course, well I hope so anyway) that I pencil it in for Friday night or Saturday because he's on a course at work today, tomorrow and Friday where he gets some new digger driving certificate or something, then if I have it over the weekend he can begin his paternity leave and because he worked overtime over the Bank Holiday he will have almost a month off. Men.....!
hi all. Im still here lol

Lorry, maybe it will be Friday, how strange would that be, but what a lovely birthday present though.

Ive no idea if 5 weeks of contractions are common, i thought they were just BH but when i was taken for induction they were monitoring them and said they were contractions. Id had them 5 weeks by then and they didnt hurt at all.

My aches and pains lasted til midnight last night and even then my bump stayed solid til 4am when baby finally got chance to do a little wriggle. Im pretty much solid again now but only aches are probably from all the exercise my muscles and back got yesterday.

so you can race for the finish hun without fear of competing with me i think lol

Natalie, i dont blame you starting mat leave now. Im starting to get that coccyx pain when at desk so know how you must feel after weeks of it. Enjoy your maternity leave!! xx
Morning ladies, no Lorry yet this morning?

Morning....

i had some pains again last night - in my back and down below but only had about 3-4 in the space of 1.5-2 hours so it obviously wasn't time. i was hoping they'd ramp up during the night but they didn't. I'm seeing my midwife today - she said last time i saw her that they can only perform a sweep a week over due date but i'm going to see if that rule is flexible. I doubt it though and i'll still be here in a week waiting to be induced or something.

i know i'm only a few days over but i'm finding it super frustrating and so is hubby.

Natalie - i think you've done the right thing too finishing early. I bet it feels lovely to know that you're not back in work now for a while. How long do you have off?

Morning red - never say never!!!

Morning to all the other ladies! maybe today will be the day...... xx
It is a lovely feeling knowing I am off, but I can't quite comprehend having such a huge amount of time off - I am not due back until last week Sept / frst week Oct. It seemed such a short space of time when I was arranging it but now i am off it seems like a lifetime! I bet it will fly by. How long do you have off? My hubby gets 15days paternity leave, plus a day for the birth if it happens on a work day, plus because he worked all over the Bank Holidy he is owed some time so should get almost a whole month off with me.

I have been a busy bunny today, hoovering, washing, sorting the wardrobe out (again), washing up and sorting the recycyling (hate that job). Just spent half hour on the phone to my dad, he is so excited about being a grandad for the first time. I think he is more excited than me, bless him! This baby is going to be spoiled rotten.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you re the sweep! I don't have another midwife appt until a week tomorrow, which is when she said we would discuss a stretch / sweepas it will be my due date, but I am hoping things might have happened by then!

Does anyone else have problems with this website ceasing up once you've submitted an answer?? just wrote one and it went to the next page saying 'done' at the bottom but it was blank and after refreshing my post had gone - annoying!!

Natalie, re the leave, i work freelance and have saved up as soon as i found out i was pregnant for as much time off as i can. i think i have about 4 months worth but i have some contingency. Hubby earns less than me and we decided some weeks ago that he would come out of work and be stay at home dad and i go back to work. he can't wait and we decided to for him to leave work now rather than only have 2 weeks with us after the birth then work for a while leaving me on my own for us then to swap - this way (and this isn't meant to sound bad but it's true) we can help eachother and he can learn how to run the house.. after all, he will be house hubby so not just looking after the baby but doing the housework and cooking etc. he can't wait though and although i'm jealous, i only graduated from uni less than 5 years ago and feel like i'm better at work. it's the best solution for everyone basically.

I can't remember what else i wrote on my message...i bet it's probably appeared now because it happened last night but this morning my post was there... very odd.

anyway, midwife in an hour so best move myself. so far today i've only had breakfast and spoken to my mum. after such a good day yesterday today i really can't be bothered again. i can't pretend that it isn't bothering me to be waiting for things to kick off

have a lovely day everyone, will post after midwife... xx
The main prob I have with this site is that it seems to be really slow when loading questions in "My Profile", it times out all the time. Sometimes when I post an answer it doesn't appear, and then I get fed up and don't bother. I should get into the habi of copying it into another doc when it is a long answer just in case.

I earn more than my fella too, but unfortuntaley not enough for us to live off at the moment. I have booked a nursery placement for when I have to go back to work, but I will go back 4days per week instead of 5, and hopefully, do the minimum 3months (otherwise I have to pay back my mat leave money) and then find something with hours / money that suits a bit better even if it means two part time posts. It's such a headache trying to get it all sorted isn't it? I'd love for one of us to be able to stay at home, but as my hubby finishes at 3:30 baby will only be in nursery part time as I will start work later in the mornings and finish later in the evenings.

I really want some chocolate, but the cupboards are empty (of good stuff anyway). I was going to wander down to the post office but it is piddling down now and I don't want to venture out.
Maltesers.......

Right ok, been to see midwife...baby is now 3/5 engaged which is more than last time which is good. all the usual -BP, wee etc is good. I have my sweep booked now for sunday and if it gets to sunday they will come to do sweep and book me in for an induction at the hospital on friday. so basically a week on friday I will without doubt be in hospital, so that's 9 days maximum that i'm sat at home waiting but obviously i have to stay optimistic that things will happen before then.

You been out for chocolate yet Nat? I have been baking loads recently so i've been eating scones and cake rather than chocolate, which i'm convincing myself is better!! i made banana cake yesterday though which i just had some of and is gorgeous! can you muster the energy to bake?? i think cookies are next on the agenda!!

Red - you're getting much more action than I am so i'm still quietly confident you might beat me and Natalie to the punch!! my midwife said that my pains are likely to be effacement pains rather than contractions and i asked if effacement pains feel like contractions and she said yes... so all the "false" starts i thought i'd been having are probably just my cervix softening which makes sense. Anyway, still no reason why i couldn't just suddenly start so although i don't know when things are going to happen, it's comforting at least knowing that there's no reason why things SHOULDN'T start.

I don't think i'm making much sense today!! my brain feels like mashed potato....more cake required i think!
That's good news re the sweep / induction. So the maximum you will be waiting is 9days? That must be a nice feeling now you have a date in mind, I'm excited (and jealous) for you! Like you say, no reason things can't start by themselves though, so I shall keep my fingers crossed :-)

I didn't make it to the shops, but my house is simply sparkling. I have swept, mopped, hoovered, re-hoovered, washed, dried, folded and put away, wiped the cupboards down and done my hair (not sure quite for what reason seeing as I am still in my PJs!), I am plucked, smoothed, straightened and defuzzed. If baby arrives now, he will think "Wow, mummy's not a hairy monster afterall!". My back aches though so I am going to retire now with a coffee as huby will be in soon, and he always seems to come through the door when I am catching up on here making me look like a lazy sod!

I could bake Lorraine, but can't really be arsed now. I think my hubby has to pop out later so I will hang on til he does and get him to stop at the shop for me :-)

Desperate Housewives tonight - woohoo - just have to make sure I stay awake for it!
