15 year old girl and a 30 year old man

Scenario: a 15 year old girl is having a sexual relationship with a 30 year old man. It only comes to light when the girl plays truant and her parents report her missing. The Police find her on her way home and when quizzed, she spills the beans. The Police cannot prosecute the man because the girl refuses to make a statement.
However, the Police are refusing to go see or even phone the man to speak to him about the relationship. It is almost as if they are condoning the matter. Do you think at the very least he should receive a warning?

I think as the girl has refused to make a statement there's nothing the police can do. But I wonder if the girl had been 11 or 12 would the police think there was nothing they could do?

Yes it is illegal but they say they can do nothing unless the girl makes a statement of complaint

I would have expected the man to have spent a few uncomfortable minutes, at the very least, with the boys in blue...

How is that? I read something a few weeks ago stating a 17yr old guy had been jailed for having sex with his 15yr old girlfriend, her mum reported them for her being under age so how can a 30yr man not get punished for having a sexual relationship with a 15yr old girl.

I understood that providing the 'participants' were within a similar age-group there was no action taken by the police..........but this is not such a situation.

I don't think that she can be blind to the fact that it is NOT a healthy relationship in which to be involved ? Is it over ?

Yes it is over - after the Police brought her home she phoned him to tell him her real age (she'd told him she was 18). Her phone is on contract in Mr O's name so we've had the number blocked.

no offence mrs_o, but if she lied about her age to him then he didn't do it "knowingly". I assume she doesn't look very young? or was she in school uniform?

I have to agree with B00, here..........Perhaps the poor bloke has spent the intervening time worrying himself silly that he'll get done for being a nonce ?

I know it is NOT his fault - the lying minx looks older than her years, but I had hoped that he would at least be spoken to.
She might look older but she is still 15, disabled and vunerable

IMO the police aren't going to do anything that won't result in cps attempting prosecution and if your daughter won't make a statement, he thinks she was 18 they probably don't think its worth it.

I have no idea if this is what the police think just my op before anyone jumps down my throat

I would imagine knowing her real age any normal bloke would be a bit freaked out finding out he was dating a child!
