And she was in floods of tears, not from stroppiness at all, but because of the embarrassment she would have felt in a dress. Luckily my Dad who was trying to insist she wore it, backed down.
never assume.......star states that the teen never wears dresses. so if she has refused.....why expect her to do it? there may well be deeper issues (although not necessarily psychiatric ones) for a girl to never wear a dress or a skirt is quite unusual - and i am sure she is aware of the importance of the occasion and her mother's wishes. at the end of the day, she cannot drag her there in a frock kicking and screaming, and shouldn't they respect each others wants and needs - and compromise? i.e. a nice trouser suit, or not being a bridesmaid. as i have already stated.....will the world stop turning? will the marriage not go ahead because she won't wear a dress? the answer is no......it simply isn't that important, and if a grown woman, a parent, cannot get over the fact that their child does not want to wear a dress.....then i feel very sorry for them. do they want to insist on the dress and risk alienating the child or causing her distress that will inevitably start deeper problems? i wouldn't start a family row over that.....and the people in my family that have done crap like that to me, i no longer speak to. and the ones i do speak to all compromise together with me so that we can all navigate life together - and we don't inflict our demands on each other.
