Any Dubonnet drinkers?

I have been a Dubonnet fan since i could legally drink nearly 40 years ago. I bought a bottle recently and it definitely tastes and smell different and not for the better. So...it it me or have they changed it?

Ooh yes ..a piccie would be good Woofy .I hope it was a success.
We had Nasi Goreng ,courtesy of Lidl .It was a bit bland so I chucked more prawns and a shredded omelette in along with a hefty dose of mild curry powder and some peanut butter !

No Neti ...when we lived in Holland we used to eat it regularly .Loved it .
We used to be able to get all the proper spices,ready mixed and veg ingredients,ready prepared in the local shop,we just used to add the chicken and prawns and nothing I've eaten since compares .

The chicken cooked beautifully, juicy and tender and it browned well, it took about an hour and 15 mins so the same as an oven. The roasties were poor but I did a no parboiling method which I never think works well. Not sure why i did it really.
Pros....easy to clean and its nice having the cooking at worktop height cos my oven is a range cooker one and grovelling is something of a nuisance.
cons. Well when roasting you can't fit a lot in beside the roast. A small chicken and four roasties filled it.
I reckon it would be good for smaller things and bitty food and i think I want some more kit...baking trays and stuff...I bet it would do excellent cakes and pastry.
The roasting tray that comes with it is a bit shallow..the chicken juices nearly overflowed.

The lid needs care when its hot. The lid holder you get with it is pretty useless but I just stood the lid on the expansion ring which worked really well.

I like nasi goreng too...It used to be served when we were at sea topped with a poached or fried egg so the yolk ran into the rice.....lovely.

I'm in two minds now .
I cook mainly hob and slow cooker .I braise on the hob too .My oven is only used for roast chicken or pork joint ( as you don't get crispy skin or crackling in the slow cooker ),yorkshire puds and roast potatoes and stuff like shepherds pie ,cauli cheese,pasties,pies, toads and cakes .
Lots of these things I only cook now and again .For two of us I wonder if it's worth it ?

If your oven is below your hob, it might be helpful in terms of not bending and lifting but I wouldn't call it a must have.....
This is it .It's the bending down .And the bending down ( well sitting on the floor actually) cleaning the bloomin' thing .
I've often shot a tray of yorkies everywhere :)

Give it some thought then. I hadn't considered the benefit of having it at worktop height and I don't have your problems but it was much easier. If you make your own yorkie batter, you'd need some individual tins but I reckon it would do cracking yorkies and you'd fit them in on the high rack over a joint. I can't sit on the floor....well I can but there are days when i can't get up again....blooming knee.

Like you I can get down ( slowly) but it's hell getting up again . Squatting is completely out of the question !
just flitting through... lovely day... took our guests to a stately home garden - would have seen more if we hadn't gone in circles around the estate getting lost... made way to Costco, bought steaks, ate same. Yum.
Good morning all.

Will think twice aboout these ovens now too. I only use my big oven once a year for the turkey (well Mr N does) otherwise I use my mini oven which is waist height and is really fast, so a leg of lamb only takes one and a half hours and a chicken about 1hr, so not much to be gained, also I get quite a lot of spuds in mine also, it has to be added that I usually have to chop the end bit of the leg off to get into the oven.

Mr N woke me up last night with his moving about (quietly) to watch TV in the lounge, so I finished my book, and the cat came in at about 5am and then we slept til 10.30!

I'm sorry to hear about the sad news woofy and shaney. Not many weeks go by when we don't hear of someone in trouble these days. Wishing them all well.

It was sunny but it's clouded over now, I've got the London marathon on and it looks a bit warm down there. What a beautiful day yesterday, my sister came and we did a bit of shopping, it was lovely to wind the windows down in the car instead of shivering until the heater kicked in. It's going to be a lolling day for me I think, Thurs afternoon descended into agony again, Fri I had to drag myself together to sort some things out and I didn't feel like sitting at the computer when I was done. I've lost a lot of weight, didn't really realise until I put on thinner clothes yesterday....hey ho KBO and all that.

lol jno, that sounds like a typical trip with my sister, if we make it to our destination without a hitch we're so excited we forget to note how to get back home again. We once passed some roadworks so many time the lads started to smile and wave as went by.

I find cooking very comforting. Anyway stick woman, put some weight on why don't you...I'll share some of mine if you like. Dogs have gone back to sleep after checking out the garden. Its sunny here but nippy so i will get the tortoises up later.

shaney where I live there are more chip shops/take aways than there are people...if only I could eat all that fattening stuff I would. And if I'm stressed my digestive system virtually shuts down anyway. I wish I was comfort eater. :)
Hi Robi, poor thing, hope you are feeling better today.

We three trotted off the the village to watch the local marathon, it was heaving so we walked the entire lenght and breath of the village looking for somewhere to eat, none of us could agree on what we wanted, so we came home again and are each getting our own. I'v just had eggs and bacon,toast, cuppa and 2 kitkats.

still chilly here but lovely sunshine. The tortoises are out and we (dogs and I ) ate lunch in the garden (cold chicken, sarnies for me, in chunks for them) then it got cold so we came in. Odd thing about George the Gizmo, the chicken didn't seem to spit at all and there was no burned on fat on the bowl. I just wiped it around with damp kitchen paper and its clean.
