Well, here we are at the final. And are we surprised at who is still in?

The papers are rife with rumours and hints this morning, so who will it be?

Ruby - the youngster but still unarguably talented

Kimberly - steadily high consistancy and not afraid to flavour

Frances - possibly the most creative baker ever in the series, but seemingly trouble with her "substance"

Let us know what you think.

oh my, if ever a wedding cake went wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!
I am gutted, I really wanted Kimberly to win as she's been consistent throughout. Although Frances has been the most imaginative and creative, Mary and Paul both said that her food lacked flavour throughout the competition.

Even though she was whiny, I really liked Ruby as well. Most of the time she got her flavours right.
I am often called upon to judge competitions - but I wouldn't have wanted to judge this one.
what kind of competitions Naomi ?
Arts, crafts, and writing mainly - although other categories sometimes creep in.
I too am gutted that Kimberley fell at the final hurdle, but looking at it objectively, she just didn't do as well as she could've done in the final.

Frances was then, the worthy winner. She did some cakes that were truly inventive, even if her flavouring wasn't sometimes up to scratch.

Really interesting seeing the documentary about the previous year's contestants though - a big win for BBC2... The ratings are going to be HUGE.
And I'll as it again...Ruby is so beautiful, she doesn't looks like she's from the same species as the rest of us.

By the way - did you know that Kimberley learned how to cook as a child, because she had to look after her mum and sister when her mother developed multiple sclerosis?

My admiration for her knows no bounds...

I agree with you 100%...after the wedding cake challenge! I couldn't separate the three finalists - they'd all done one thing that put them ahead of the others...but at the end of the day, I think the right person won.

Oh, and my partner works in television and here's a little bit if gossip that people might not know - apart from 'The Voice', The Great British Bake Off is the show that more camera crew and production staff want to work on, in the BBC than any other.

I have a feeling I know why...
sp. why on earth would camera/production crew want to work on ; the voice ' ?
Personally so glad Frances won, she was just so creative and had improved the most out of any of them. Close call though.

I thought that all of them had produced better bakes earlier in the competition, the time limit notwithstanding, none of the wedding cakes would have made me go "Wow" if they had been baked for my wedding.
I thought all three wedding cakes were a disaster - taking an overall vote on the best cook I would have voted Kimberley.
I thought Kimberly was brilliant - but her picnic pie was a complete disaster. I've never heard of putting raw meat into a pie.
I think the right person won it.
// none of the wedding cakes would have made me go "Wow" if they had been baked for my wedding. //

To be fair woof they had six hours. As one of them said, some people would spend six days on a wedding cake.
It wasn't Ruby's Tuesday was it? :-)
lol B00
boo, that's terrible
oi Mcfluffy, it's my pun of the week! Quite possibly of the year.
I enjoyed the series...not sure who I'd have voted for TBH but I am going to try making pretzels... I didn't like Ruby either the 'poor little me' thing didn't seem genuine although she is a pretty girl
