My mum has just moved house and is now using an electric built in oven which the opens up (she previoulsy had a free standing gas cooker). She is finding that there is alot of steam/smoke when she opens the oven door while using it. She has made sure the oven is clean, temp not too high and there is a fan above which is on.

If anybody has any ideas?

Nothing to worry about. I get the same from my fan oven. It's just the water vapour from whatever's cooking is filling the oven, and when the door is opened it comes out and condenses in the cooler kitchen air. Just keep back so's not to get a faceful when opening the door.
There must be a blockage or partial blockage of the Oven vent which is normally located at the back of the Oven. With the Cooker switched Off clean the Vent if it is fairly accessible.
Agree with heathfield. I have had 2 electric ovens and they both give out steam when door is opened best to open door and step back for a second as it is quite hot.
I just make sure I'm not wearing my specs at the time as they steam up!
Happens all the time with my oven
