I buy my (original and genuine Bury one)from Waitrose.I comes like a letter U,in a horseshoe type of shape.I slice it and freeze it,then defrost when I want to cook it.I usually grill it(but have never tried frying it).My point is,the pudding has a skin which is awkward to remove after grilling, should I take the skin off before cooking.Yes,I think the skin is quite edible?but I am not keen on it.

Yes you can remove the skin before grilling.

The most memorable thing I ever ate while working at River Cottage was their house made black pudding, it was the best I've ever had.
I thought JD didn't like food threads ?
There are threads and threads. Those which merely recite the dinner menu I don't like. Others discussing the merits of a particular gastronomic item are far more amenable.
So what are you having for tea JD?
Sod off, Shoota. I haven't even had breakfast yet, unless you count 4 large G &Ts.
Tea is a drink :-D
Where I come from tea is both a drink and a meal.
Mr J2 loves black pudding - I hate it! Both agreed that it is better than our neighbour's 'Boudin Noir' which we received annually when he slaughtered his pig (I'm afraid most of it went straight into the bin and I hate waste!).
I quite liked French charcuterie when I used to visit. The only thing I was not keen on was rillettes.
A pub I "frequent" (posh word for this time of day !) serves a Braised Beef and Black Pudding pie - absolutely delicious.

Agree with 2sp. The best black pudding is Stornoway black pudding - so good that even it's name is protected.

My grateful thanks to Mamyalynne, regarding Black Pudding skin.We just had high tea (just like brekky, but with bread and butter etc) I cut the skin off of the pudding, grilled it,and it was so easy to eat.It didn't fall apart like I thought it would.
Glad it worked well and you enjoyed it, can't be beaten can it.
Question Author
No indeed it can't.High Tea and Breakfast wouldn't be the same without it.However (as someone suggested) I drawn the line at raw BP, even if it is technically cooked already.LOL
I don't eat it raw, but each to their own.

I'm going to have a look at some of those other recipes on my earlier link too - look yummy some of them.
Love it!!
I can't think of anything worse than eating pig's blood. Disgusting stuff
I think it's a bit like Marmite. You either like it or loathe it. I am very fond of offal, apart from tripe which makes me gag just at the sound of it.
Black pudding raw or cooked, lovely stuff.
