either boil it...roast in oven ?
im using it for salads.
what ingredients would i put in if boiling.

im on a hi protein diet

If I poach a chicken, I add an onion (root off skin on) herbs of my choice and maybe some flavourings like a cinnamon stick and a few bruised cardamoms.

Remove the skin rub the chicken with garlic and any herbs and spices you fancy and roast it in a tinfoil tent
Another option joint it, and cook in a roasting bag with tomato puree, garlic, paprika and a little chilli powder

ever wonder why ur chicken salad doesnt taste anthing like the ones you get in a restaurant or even tesco ?

They are probably cooked in a pressure cooker or steamed
I would cover it in cajun spices or jerk spices, roast and then slice to put in a salad (either warm or cold)
You could cook it in a slow cooker...lovely and moist.
that's what the tent does - I do it Italian style, eight heads of garlic in a Le Creuset pot, maybe 4 with 4 shallots, dobs of rosemary in the base and on the chicken, the chicken seasoned with lemon pepper, lemon and salt.

Cook for 1,5 hours @200F 180 fan and a medium-sized bird...half way through the roast add 1/4 bottle of white wine....

Let the chicken rest and reduce the sauce, add whatever be it creme fraiche and other herbs or a touch of balsamic and maple syrup..... ...one meal is the result.

The cold chicken remains are delish in having been half-poached and really good for adding to salads or risotto.
Why would you put an oven on for a bit of chicken?
If I wanted cooked chicken for a salad, I'd buy it already cooked... I get Waitrose mini-fillets (three or four different varieties).
I certainly wouldn't cook chicken just to have it cold in a salad!
I don't know why but I presumed we were talking a whole bird.

Sod putting the oven on if it can be avoided - I've cheated and bought ready cooked, frozen chicken for tomorrow's tea.
It works out economical, someone on a high protein diet to cook a bird and use t for lots of meals - you can freeze the prepared meat too for use later.
Surely the whole point of salad is that it's all uncooked ?

If I never ate chicken again for the rest of my life it wouldn't bother me one bit. Chicken today tastes nothing like that of my childhood, when it was a rare treat. In fact it's fowl! Mind you, this is based on the old broiler hens you get ready-cooked from the supermarket.
