Is it possible to freeze bananas please? And if so, how?

Why?

We get through lots so never have to throw any away but we do sometimes share an extra one just because it's going over ripe, so I might try this.

Interesting figures from Canary but I'm not sure of the connection. And don't bananas often grow in the parts of the world that suffer most from undernourishment?
