Can I Boil An Egg In The Microwave

Can i boil an egg in the microwave i want to have an egg but with only a kettle, toaster and microwave to hand.

No. It will explode. Crack it into a little bowl/cup and cook it that way.

I wonder if anyone has tried putting an egg into a bowl of boiling hot water and microwaving it.

It might work, but you would probably have to put it on low power so it doesn't boil too frantically.

There is the danger of Tilly being right. It might explode leaving a horrible watery mess in the oven.

Went to stay with a friend once and she boils eggs in the microwave and i`ve seen it done. You wrap it in tin foil and put it in a mug of water and put it in the microwave.

Boil the water in a kettle, pour in to a bowl. Add salt to the water, crack the egg in to the bowl, cover and leave for 5 minutes. You should have a perfect poached egg

Or scramble the egg with butter, milk, salt and pepper and microwave for a few minutes, stirring every 30 seconds

Yes ann. I was staying with a friend in Australia and that's how we cooked our eggs every day

It's not simply a ban on metal in the microwave, it's about avoiding folds and pointy bits where the sparks form. Maybe around an egg shape and under water it is less likely to flash ?
