Makes approx 5lb (double the quantities if you need more!)
2lb blackberries, washed
3/4 lb cooking apples, peeled, cored & sliced (prepared weight)
3lb sugar
a knob of butter
Put the blackberries in a saucepan with 1/4pt water & simmer till soft.
Put the apples in a large saucepan, or preserving pan, with 1/4pt water & simmer till soft. Break up the apples with a fork or potato masher (depending on whether you like chunks in your jam, or not).
Add the blackberries & sugar to the apples, stir till sugar has dissolved & add the butter.
Bring to the boil & boil till setting point is reached (about 10 mins), stirring, to prevent sticking & burning.
Remove any scum from the surface, then pot & cover as usual.
Hope this is OK - it generally turns out very good! K xx
