MM & KM Links October 2008 [Week 4]

Red Wine 1 - 0 Crofter!
I have it on good authority that during this, his last week King Ulysses the Valiant will be "tip-toeing through the tulips" somewhere in Norfolk ~ setting off very early tomorrow morning. He has left behind his preamble and link words for me to do the honours in his absence and not even Pauline herself could guess at this stage what he has to say. After two years of organising MM Links, I have never met a history to match that of King Ulysses. His success over the years with difficult cryptic crosswords and his botanical expertise just mark the beginning of his surprises!
Friday night in the Croft is usually Italian Night, when the red wine flows like the Tiber (or like Tizer?). I am composing this text over two hours in advance, while I can still focus on the keyboard! I only hope that I can make it tomorrow in time for my launch of the MM Links posting on AnswerBank at 8.45am with the four chosen words to be linked (pre-selected by King Ulysses) being declared at 9.00am. Don't forget that this week is the decider in order to dish out honours for the month of October and (at present) recent ex-champion, Dinkypuzzled, is in the lead. More details tomorrow morning!

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Dont forget that we also run an international version of this same game (called KM Links) where the words to be linked are determined by the DTs Herculis Crossword. That usually kicks off some time after 06.30am! Here the regular score master/mistress is seekeerz from the Land of Oz. Whenever one of us is indisposed, we can rely on gen2 to provide cover ~ so that the shows still go on no matter what! Why not try your hand at BOTH games? These competitions are open to everyone and ongoing until well into Sunday. There will be well over 40 entries for each Link Game and competition is fiercely light-hearted!
As for me, I am crofter, Keeper of the Rule Book and Sacred Abacus.
Happy Linking!

If you are stomping, rather than tip-toeing, around Norfolk this weekend then maybe this clip will help you to identify our setter of the MM links:

Having just managed to catch up with my reading of todays Telegraph, there was photo of a child clutching daffodils that were blooming in Chippenham, therefore it is possible that tulips may be in flower in Norfolk to be tip-toed through, along with Tiny Tim and 'Miss Vicki' (Tiny Tim also recorded a track called 'Stay Down Here Where You Belong' which could relate to being on Norfolk Island)
