Prince Edward? The queen's youngest child? I'm no royalist, but surely I should've heard of him somewhere. Oh the reason I brought this up was because it was a question in a quiz which I got right by guessing, even though I hadn't a clue.
I once did an exercise with some of the Close Observation Troop of 42 Commando
They all had t shirts and on the front were the words :
You can turn a frog into a Prince
On the back it said :
But you cannot turn a Prince into a Royal Marine
He infamously failed to complete the commando course after a spat with one of the instructors and thus failed to earn the coveted green beret so technically he never actually served as a Royal Marine
From wiki :
Upon leaving university in 1986, Edward joined the Royal Marines, who had reportedly sponsored his tuition at Cambridge University on condition of future service. In January 1987, he dropped out of the commando course after having completed one-third of the 12-month training.
I actually met him well met him might be a bit of an exaggeration I was at the same show as him we totally ignored one another through no fault of either of us .
Who will be the next patron of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?
Prince Edward is tipped to be the next patron of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, following the death of its founder Prince Philip. The Earl of Wessex, 57, has been a huge advocate for the DofE since achieving the Gold Award in 1986 and is already a Trustee of the charity.
//Did a "Meghan and Harry"..........but in the UK ;-)//
That’s neither fair nor true. Whilst they have kept quite a low profile, they've never trashed the Royal family, and they've taken on more official duties in recent years. Edward's wife, Sophie, is very well regarded by the queen.
Sticky, he was a right waste of space and a waster before he went into the Marines, served in Northern Ireland....two tours of duty and then in Norway in SBS .
