A friend (who has been a veg grower for years) has had a crop of potatoes that are semi-transparent & too hard to eat after cooking whether boiled or slow roasted.
Any ideas as to what the reason might be? he doesn't remember the variety name, they weren't his usual choice. Thanks.

Morning all
Hope mr s is feeling alright and of course DH!

What a wild night, it was like a hurricane, absolute devastation outside. Luckily I brought the budgie in and he spend the night in the bath behind curtains and the cat slept with us. Tables and chairs and absolutely everything mobile went awol and have just run around the neighbourhood reclaiming what I think is mine. We battened down the hatches and hoped for the best. The people at the back of me have a 30 metre tv aeriel and I was terrified it would smash down onto my little villa but all seems OK! The patio was covered in algroba (carob) beans which get very heavy to sweep when wet. Have lost several patio cushions. and 8it's till raining!!! and the leccy stayed on as did sky which is a miracle in itself.
Am watching the miners in Chile. What a dreadful experience. I pray they will all be rescued and will be safe.
mornin peeps.
5 rescued so far...it brings a tear of joy to me eyes it does.

Morning all...stupid computer, I got one of those pop up pages that said my puta was infected & I MUST install some some antivirus thing to clear it...yeh, right. It wouldn't go away so I had to close it down, grrrr.
Yes I've been watching the miners, hoping & praying for the safety of all of them. The young one looked very traumatised, poor lad.

Hope husbands are progressing well. Look after yourselves shaney & woofy, get plenty of sleep & as much chs on tst as you can.

That sounds a bit scary neti, hope it's blown itself out now, but not this way thanks, I loathe windy weather.

Hope you can still get in to see us Kit, I might be in a similar situation myself when they start next door. This puta's next to the adjoining wall so I'm hoping they don't decide to pop their heads through one day. Actually they're pretty well built, we dont share nails to hang pics on :o) Work's started on the house over the road but that doesn't affect me apart from the occasional thud.

Another horrible dream last night but I'm not gonna think about it...
My favourite advert at the moment, makes me laugh...

good morning all. all well here. We are probably going out today...hope all is well with you all, especially the Shaneys. Lottie how is your dog?
the sun is, the sky is blue.....you get the drift. Have swept and washed the patio 2x now and it´s looking better. Tempted to do some washing but.............

off to hospital this after, I know I sinned dreadfully in England so hope that it doesn't show me as diabetic cos I'm not!! Will have to get the bus there and back and walk a ways cos daughter still has the car as it's her last day!

Woofy, are you sure you should be taking DH ou, now be careful!

xx to shaney and mr s!
hello Neti, glad to hear you aren't blown away. Are the locust beans the same as the ones we used to buy in the sweetie shops?
Its part of Dh's rehab exercise to walk a certain amount every day and get some fresh air...we may not make it out the door today though. He puts on a huge front in hospital...the perfect patient, cheerful, active, compliant, takes much less pain relief than prescribed, takes much more exercise than he has to...you know the man thing. Anyway when he comes home and its only me the front goes away, he relaxes and becomes weary...its fine provided he keeps up his liquid intake and eats a little and keeps his legs and feet moving. yesterday he got up and dressed for dinner and stayed up about 4 hours. As a minimum I expect the same today but the option to go out for a drive and short walk is there. Its a bit grey and chilly here so he probably won't. Tomorrow he has to get up as his staples come out so i am happy to let him be today.

lol Vinny, that lot really look a little bit tooo clean. If they show that ad in it's entirety every time I've been paying too much for me yoggys. :o)

I don't think that's just a man thing woofy, you never seem to relax properly in hospital & then it hits you when you come home.
oops I forgot to say thanks kip for the shift thingy...shift i said:O)
12th man on his way up Vin.I can't stop crying. It's amazing......
me too jude, I was up at 1am to watch the rescue but it was delayed 2hrs so am watching now. What a horrific experience and then to have to ride in that tube! yuk. Have to say can't wait for the miner wit the mistress, although wife says she won't be there.
its an emotional rescue jude:O)
Hi Robi ,hope better late than never but I've had no Internet for over 2 weeks ! had severe withdrawal symptoms ! will read the thread later as it is bedtime .Bye for now .xxx
Haven't forgotten you, but obviously a bit limited with computer use until son gets everything fixed. Got a rotton cold now - but been out to Gooderstone Water Gardens to have a look at everything now autumn is here. Absolutely beautiful. Felt better out than I do now I am in.

Had a rotten night with a temperature so am now going to get some sleep.

Good news about Mr Shaney. Pickled herrings eh, must be on the road to recovery.

Horrible experience Neti. I hate high winds and gales - really frightens me.

Dog is back to her usual self, thanks Woofy. She does suffer from time to time with IBS and it makes her miserable and she also had a limp for a couple of days. She is a real wuss though when anything is wrong!!

See you soon. x

(PS Clogs are too small, have to go back!! :o( )
Hi Lottie have a good sleep and you'll feel better.
We're lucky with the weather today it's lovely and sunny.Only been for a short walk though round the charity shops. Didn;t see anything I fancied today though.
Hope Mr W and Mr S are recovering well and Mrs. W and Mrs S you take care of yourselves as well.

15 miners up now. And what about the brave men who go down to help. What a nerve they must have,
Didn't know Neti .there was a mistress and a wife waiting for the return of one of the miners.

HI Dolly, I know how you feel when you PC goes down. You really miss it don't you. Hope you are keeping well.
Here is the good news..... All my hormones, cholesterol etc are under control, Doc said I had done very well and no need to diet more esp as am taking statins ( I think they are) but to keep a healthy well balanced diet (it'll the the only well balanced thing about me). No more hospital visits,

Bad news............have to go to collect the decision about our land tomorrow after all this time, am dreading it!
Yes jude, the poor wife was waiting all this time at the pit head and then she noticed another woman holding her husband's photo, so it all came out, She says he's got to choose, and won't be there to greet him as she'll let the mistress do tat! Bet she's gutted, poor woman! Think he's no. 22 but not sure.
