Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!!  I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.

Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)

Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)

Cotinus (smoke Bush).

Afternoon all. Just got back form a lovely meal and a walk round Draycott a village near here. Looking in shops I didn't know exist.
went in one called Frox. It's like an up market charity shop but not a for Charity. I bought an almost new Per Una silvery jacket for a tenner which will go with a dress I have whch is black with silvery swirls on it so I might go in that to the wedding.
I'm meeting my younger sister tomorrow for a mooch round town to see if I can get a new dress. she says she has seen one in Waklis's that would look ok on me. We shall see
Robi - I don't like these fast moviing murder mysteries. I'm the type that gets lost and can't keep up with the details of who's who and what's what. Nobody will watch them with me because I'm always nudging them and asking stuff to keep up :~)

Lottie - Well done Norwich for getting in the Premier League (said through gritted teeth). I'm really envious now.
Hope you are all ok it's a bit warmer here but still quite windy...

Cuppa tea time - laters 'gater(s)
Hi Neti was it Matt Monroe? I'm not sure about that but I think he made it.
It's Ok, it was Andy williams, I didn't know he could sing that well!!
Can you top this: hija went to see her medico who has been away for months and months and he explained that he had cancer, and the Spanish NHS would not pay for his treatment, so he paid 75,000€ to go privately and he is now in remission, I think that is so bad, he is a doctor for the very service who wouldn't pay for him!
Goodness Neti that is dreadful. All calm here, went shopping to get OH new trousers. He has found the bike he want so tomorrow we may go to buy a mower and a pressure washer or we might leave that a week and go to the vehicle reg place in Portsmouth instead to get his numberplate changed as its his initials and he wants it for the new bike...there is an outlet mall over in Portsmouth so fun for moi.
Dogs very sleepy, me too.
Mr S is like a dog with two tails because Norwich have been promoted Jude .He's most annoyed that all the local papers had sold she could read all about it and I forgot to get one earlier :)
Hes just trekked down the High St and they were all gone .
I used to go and watch Norwich play years ago with my Dad .My brother used to get us tickets ( police freebies ) and we used to have a snack in the Norwich nick before the game .

evenin all...any fights I need to know about?
Well I don't seem to have done much except for minimal shopping & talking on the phone. I stood and stared at the garden a while, you do that when you get older don't you, haha... you'd think it was late July looking at the ground, the grass is starting to go brown already.

Oh I might have to look around the shops next time we're at the nursery over that way Jude, villages are often the best places for a bargain.

Can't Mr W buy a ride on mower woofy, it'll save money & he can still wear his leathers? :o)

Don't know what to have to eat, these bloomin meal times roll around a bit soon...
huh, well, my crown can't be saved as the root is broken, but the dentist has agreed to postpone extraction (and subsequent implant discussions) until after I get back from the desert. I may be eating less American steak than I would like given my lack of back teeth... I still have some but not upper and lower ones in the same place.

No more fights here, robi, looks like the Ed is abandoning the coroner's inquiry into the last one but people will be invited not to overdose on AB.

Lol Woofy ....no ....Delia was probably as piddled as a newt :)
That's sad about that doctor Neti .I often wonder what happens to doctors when they become ill and how they get treatment .
I wonder about a lot of things really .Strange what comes into your mind at times .

I have a picture in my mind now of Jno contemplating a TBone steak .
Nothing worse than not being able to chew properly .I hope they can sort them out for you .I had all that when my bridge snapped .I was chewing very gingerly .I'm so glad he could mend it and I didn't have to have goo treatment -

We had some Jersey Royals for dinner .Well ..they taste nothing like they used to .
You have to lard half a pound of butter on 'em .And the price ..Tut .
oh yes, didn't artee do some rather nice photos by fiddling with photoshop? The pages seem to have been dumped so I'll probably never know. She was here back in the days before I reverted to Milupa.
I have a few odd teeth and have worked out how to chew steak, bit like a camel really!

jno I have a cousin in Phoenix, Arizona, but if you should come across her, she'll deny all knowledge!

Barca v madrid grudge match on our tv.
Ha ha Robi just seen that!! Here comes a thwacking and it's a big one!

<<<<<< THWACK >>>>>>
morning all here....lovely start to the day, blueberries for first breakfast.
Buenas dias amigas, looks like a lovely day here. I have pink apple cheeks and red nose and red forehead due to sunbathing yesterday! Dare I show my face in public? That is the question.

We have just received our voting papers, so the mayor (alcaldie) had better watch out!!
I have already voted (on AV, I did it by post); I have not tried lying in the sun as it is still not warm enough, but apparently it is 100 in Phoenix and that will probably do. The state birds may all die of heat stroke, though.
