Fridge Freezer

Sista has above - but sorta large fridge then like a small freezer - not half half etc.

Anyway she said that (she is meticulous) outside her fridge is sorta running with condensation and she has to dry it often. (now I'm not sure her condensation and mine would be the same) however it is wet - would anybody know why this is happening.

I understand like my own fridge/freezer the inside can be wet but never outside - thanks for any answers.

At the side of the fridge/freezer - sorry Bazile - don't know which one is it - ie freezer side or fridge side - would you need to know that. she just said to me down the side of it next to her kitchen units etc. And I know it is not "tight" to the units - there is a slight gap so wouldn't be the units.

I have a fridge/freezer with the freezer compartment at the top.
Many years ago I noticed a wet patch at the top of the fridge/freezer – initially I thought it might be water dripping from the ceiling – having eliminated that I realised that it was condensation.

Although I have conducted no further investigation (the wet patch remains) it is also certain that the thermal insulation between the internal freezer compartment and top surface has been compromised. Either the insulation was never very good when manufactured, or ice build up due to not being defrosted as required, breaking through the internal thermal insulation.

Either way, I suspect that your sister’s fridge/freezer not to be an expensive item, the condensation may be made worse if for some reason she has high humidity within the room that the fridge/freezer is situated.

thanks Hymie for that answer - the fridge is old but the space compartments of it suited her. No - there would be no humidity in her kitchen (not a great cook LOl) so even the oven wouldn't be on very often. When I am over I will have a look but she is in the mode of buying a new one. Just wondered if it would be dangerous - you know water and electricity.
