Is There A Good Upright Hoover That Actually Works

Recent test on live well for less found the basic Argos one worked really well at a fraction of the cost. I used to have one and preferred it to my Dyson because it picked up fluffy cat hair and sewing thread far better

I reckon no vacuum cleaner ever actually works as it should. Ok maybe, and only maybe, a brand new one might; but it doesn't take long before using the head attachment results in stuff just being moved about the carpet rather than sucked up. And then there's the power issue, get one that sucks enough to lift things and it'll lift your mat (or curtains or anything else) rather the the fluff, cotton, hair, dirt etc.. The only solution has to be new carpets each time the old ones need cleaning.

Dyson V8 Absolute. Very light with useful attachments. I can't believe how much dust it picks up.

I have Dyson upright and Dyson cordless - they both cope really brilliantly with 2 dogs and 4 cats

i have a shark duel very long lead ,great on floors and carpet ,only fault is it doesn't stand up alone but I just lean it on bed or chair etc ,very easy to empty and comes with attachments and you can take the end off for high vacuuming etc

I have a Shark Rocket HV320. Stands up, 8m cable (can literally vacuum from one end of my house to the other) has loads of attachments, can be used as a hand held and you can have the ‘wand’ in any length you require. Has a swivel so can get access to hard to reach areas and under things with ease. Has a light to help. Has 2 settings - best thing I’ve ever bought.

Dyson cordless for me too, it’s amazing. I rarely if ever use my mains dyson now, which is also excellent.

sorry to get back so late but i am after a lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner. I can't handle a full heavyweight machine. I don't like the dyson but the G Tech I have now deposits more dust on the carpet than it picks up.
