washing windows
9 Answers
Anyone got any hints on how to clean (quite dirty) windows? I know that 'How clean is your house' recommends newspaper and maybe vinegar? Is it vinegar in plain or soapy water, is the window cleaned with a sponge or cloth, is it dried with newspaper or is the paper only used to buff it after being dried some other way?
Does the same method work for internal and external windows?
Thanks

Lukewarm water with a good slug of vinegar ..doesn't matter which sort ..white or malt it's all the same .
Get yourself a couple of good quality microfibre cloths .
Wash on with one cloth .. buff up with the other .Job done .
Clean them on a dull day ....not in bright sunshine .Cleaning windows in direct sunlight will dry it off before you have them shined up and will leave streaks .
Do one side vertically and the other side horizontally ...then you can see if you have missed a bit !
Otherwise get a window cleaner and kowtow to him !
We have some windows that are impossible to clean ourselves and would be lost without him .

I've tried all sorts of things over the years but have recently been introduced to the best method ever and it uses no nasty chemicals! Wipe over with J-cloth and warm water then wipe over with an E-Cloth. The latter are just magic (tho not cheap to buy but they last for ages) and there are no smears - ever!!!!!
